Sorry, but a team one year removed with an NBA starting guard is not going to be the best ever. Larson and Broman will both get better, but we don't have that guy that can stop a run like Nate could. We could be a very good team when it's all said and done, but no way will this team be as good as last year.

Thanks for the lecture.

No offense to smsu but sdsu even without wolters should have won 85-50.

Nice win, but one stat that needs work is FT shooting. Jacks were 14-24 from the line tonight (58.3%)
Also, 3pt shooting has been subpar up to this point in the season. Jacks were 7-22 (31.8%) from 3 tonight. I'll take the win, though.
The other thing they need work on is breaking a press. When we get a team with quicker guards than SMSU , it could get interesting. Bittle should help when he gets back.

It has been said that while Nate was the go to guy as far as scoring, Fiegen was the go to guy for vocality, emotion.
I haven't seen a game yet, and have only hardly listened, I think we miss Fiegen's leadership as much as Nates. It doesn't seem like we've found the go to guy for either vacated position yet.

So what's the offense doing? Aren't we going to run more motion offense this year? If so are we and is it effective. Or we running a inside out trying to work the post or run the high post with dykstra and heemstra to take advantage of their size and passing.
Supposedly donlen is suppose be a a top notch shooter. Carlson dykstra and white are more then capaable of shooting well from 3. My take was that running a motion offense with 3 out 2 in would be our main offense. Last year was nate controling everything basically had open up and do what he wanted. Seems we have post guys would would trive in a motion offense and guys who should be smart enough to figure out spacing and positioning etc with guys on the bench who should fit that in. If nagy doesn't want to run a true motion he could easily run and inside out with guys on the perimiter cutting and spacing to allow our size of larson to work down low. With dysktra and heemstra abele to shoot longer jump shots would create lanes for passing and players cutting. Finaly running a high post would again alow heemstra who can shoot a jumper from the top of the key to set up and pass out of to the post or wings. Would work great if we faced a zone defense since getting the ball in the middle of the zone can colapse it and heemstra is such a good passer could break it down. How ever all this comes back to player movement with out the ball. After the team stood around watching nate for 3 years forgot what its like to move with out the ball.
We have guys that are more skilled and talented then it shows. Hopefully they figure it out sooner than later.

Fiegens effort and intensity was unmatched last year and your right it appears no one wants to fill that roll yet.

I think Heemstra fills that role. He seems to be the guy that gets emotional and pumped up. Tonight, Nagy called him the "glue guy." As long as he doesn't get into foul trouble, he gives the Jacks some intensity, IMO.
