It's no fun to lose, but I saw a lot to be excited about in that game. The Jacks are deep, long, skilled. They just need to settle in and figure out what they're best at. They're going to be a pretty tough matchup for most of the teams in the Summit League.Holy nutmeg!

My first comment about point guard play was sarcastic (I should know by now that sarcasm doesn't work on a fan forum) and my second comment was a less than humorous way of stating that JD didn't play well. I am not about to jump off the ledge.

Nate is gone, the cupboard is definitely not bare.
I'm far more unhappy with the Women. They looked terrible. There is no excuse for what occurred last night in Utah.

I think there were plenty of positives as well. Sucks about the result, but lets be honest: We're only going to get do anything in conference. These games are just to get us ready. Some good, some bad. We'll get there.Originally posted by JackFan96Well, I don't get to sit in Mom's basement and watch sports all day

Re: Season Opener: at San Diego
Well, let's cancel Christmas and when done football season start?
Oh, wait a minute.
Obviously the last minute was rough. They battled back from down at half. Bittle put up good numbers, that is really encouraging. They'll grow from this loss both by learning from the experience and being motivated moving forward. I fully expected to have a few rough games early in the year. These guys are winners and are going to have an awesome season.
The new rules on hand checking seems to have been called as anticipated. I'm worried that is going to make college ball almost painful to watch unless you love free throws.
Interested to see the play in the next game. I wouldn't want to be LMU. They are going to get our best shot!
SUPERBUNNYMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, BIZUN!!!

That being said, there was a lot to be excited about. Bittle is a serious talent who doesn't seem to take any plays off. Larson is good, very good. We have to remember he hasn't played a real game in a long time. We have never had a big man who is that athletic on any of our teams. By mid-season he will be very scary. Dykstra needs to show up every game, and the foul trouble Carlson got into really hurt. We needed his experience at the point. However, Broman looked good for a true freshman. I recall a guy with the last name of Wolters who made the same type of errors when he first stepped on the court. We are going to be deep this year. We are athletic and we are big. Most of the 1st half, and the last 2 minutes were painful, but we had some very young inexperienced guys on the court who looked, at times to be pushing it.

I chuckle at the people ragging on Broman. It's his first collegiate game for God's sake.

Reality check - this time last year the Jackrabbits lost to HOFSTRA and we still had Nate Wolters! I think we will be ok.....Message for the youth: “Set your goals high and work for them, because if you set your goals where they should be, it’s going to require a lot of hard work. And even if you don’t achieve them, it shows longevity, and it shows commitment. And those are both things you need for the rest of your life,” Tony Fiegen

Re: Season Opener: at San Diego
It seems to me it's going to be harder for the fans to move on without Wolters than the team.
They'll be fine. Turnovers down the stretch were bad but the team will work on it. Lots of positives from last night.Disclaimer: This post may contain assumptions and/or opinions related to Jackrabbit Athletics.

Re: Season Opener: at San Diego
Hard to lose a game when I feel SDSU was by far the better of the two teams on the court last night. I guess that's college basketball. However, after watching the game last night I am at least equally as excited about this teams prospects as any of the past couple season.
It going to be fun to see some DUNKS for once! Larsen is a BEAST down low. We are finally going to get to watch a guy from our team try to tear down the rim a couple times a game and swat a few opponents shots into the stands. His passing ability last night was also impressive. I think he will get more and more comfortable as the year goes along.
Broman looked like a very skilled, fearless player. He's aggressive, strong, and a much better shooter than he showed. He also looked like a guy making the jump from small town high school ball to D1. Broman is going to be a good player this year and possibly great down the road. Lets give him a half a season to adjust to the speed of the game.
I've always liked Heemstra's game. Glad to see him get the opportunity to play some big minutes this year. I thought he should have played more last year to keep the starters fresh but that's for a different argument.
Carlson and Dykstra's foul trouble hurt us last night. Not sure how many of their fouls were on offensive "charges" but I know at least a few were of that variety. Obviously need those two solid veterans on the court a vast majority of the time to have our best chance to win.
Chad White is what he has always been. He's a great catch and shoot, set shooter. Give him a pass and an open look and he will hit some threes for you. People call him out for not doing more. I think people have to temper their expectations with White and accept him for what he is.
Need a win tonight!!

White is what he is, he isn't going to change in season four.
I was impressed with Broman, he is kind of going thru what Nate is with adjusting to the speed of the game. I love his fearlessness. If he gets those minutes, he will have a 20 point game this year as a freshman.
Loved Bittle making that quick move after getting the pass to get his shot. If Chad had that to go with his shooting he would be a much different player.
If Larson is still adjusting to the game....look out, thought he looked great, especially passing, that was nice to see.
Still think Heemstra should have played more these last couple of years. He looks good out there. His passing ability along with Larson's will make us go this year. Especially if you have Dykstra and Carlson knocking down three's.
Disappointed not to see Donlan if everything we have heard is true. A couple with foul trouble, a couple having off nights and going back to California, what more do you need to get him in the game?
