Final score: USD 74, SDSU 70. A game the Jacks should have won. 4 turnovers in the final minute doomed them.

      Ha!

4 turnovers in the last minute? That's ridiculous, even without Nate. Hope we can smooth that stuff out and guard the 3 point line better next game

First real game is always rough...let alone after losing your star PG. I would think that by the time we get to our conference schedule this team will look very good.

I would say that having the "go to" player, Dykstra, not show up hurt us more than anything. The combo of him and Larson is going to be a lot of fun to watch all season. Bittle looks good too...

Now that I can watch it, Broman's ball control in the lane needs some work. He just lost both of those last two turnovers that he committed.

Also, Anderson was really good selling those charges, on Carlson and Bittle on that last possession. He went flying about 10 feet on the ground after Bittle's "charge". Bittle needs to keep his arm in though so that he doesn't give the refs any reason to blow the whistle.

I'm actually optimistic after this game. Lots of positives to take away from this one.

Broman needs to work on the floater (tear drop). At his height, he will find it very difficult to score in the lane without the Tear Drop.

Broman looked like a Frosh playing his first college game. He has a lot to work on, and I'm sure he will.

I wish Dykstra wouldn't have missed the bus. Hopefully he caught a flight and can make it there for tomorrow nights game.

There is your Nater-less Jackrabbits. Ugh. That was so glaring at the end it was sad. The last charge call in the backcourt was not a good call, but still, they should not have been in that situation. They had the bonus at the under 12 timeout. They had the lead. They puked it up because no one could handle the ball. Why would they call a play out of the timeout to have a true freshman drive the lane?

There were several positives to come out of that. Larson is going to be a force. I was impressed with Heemstra. But the lack of PG is going to have to improve. Carlson scored, but I can't say I loved his PG play. And the interior defense is going to have to improve. The kid that hit the sick 3s. What do you do on some of those? And JD can't get into foul trouble like that. He has to play minutes or he just isn't into the flow of the game, I've seen that in the past. But that can be said for a lot of guys who usually play a bulk of minutes. I wouldn't rag on JD as much as I would White. He wasn't in foul trouble and fell asleep like he tends to do. 5th year senior, hit some 3s while the clock is ticking, not the ones after the whistle blows.

Carlson fouling out really hurt. It's tough for a true frosh playing his first collegiate game to run the point against a decent team in the final minute of a close game.

Need better games from Dykstra and White. Dykstra would have some games last year where he wouldn't show up. Hopefully he can be "the guy" for this team in crunch time.

Still a long ways to go this season. I think they'll be really good come conference time.

Honestly, there are a lot of positives to take from this game, but ball handling at the end of the game cost us.

I'll be more worried if this is happening at the end of the game mid/late season, but these are bumps in the road that should be expected with the lose of Wolters. Never easy for a true freshman and a converted shooting guard to take over for an NBA talent.

JD getting two quick fouls in the 1st half is just not smart. He needs to realize his importance to the team, and make sure he can stay in the court.

Bittle shooting a fade-away 3 in the final seconds down 2 is not ideal. Would have liked to go down low to Larson. Need to regroup against LMU. They narrowly beat Grand Canyon in the opening game.

Exactly. He played 12 minutes. White on the other hand played 34,with not much to show for it. A fifth year senior needs to take control at the end of a tight game like that.

Yeah 2 seniors should use this as a wake up call. A senior who played off the bench all his career a transfer and last years back up pg gave us a chance to win. Didn't seem like our depth helped us in a game with a lot of fouls.
