    Re: Iupui

Heemstra has a great feed to a slashing Horstman who scores. Dykstra is the only starter left on the floor with 6:00. We should be in good shape going into Saturday.

Wolters is going to finish with 18-4-2-2. Dykstra is currently at 14 points and 14 rebounds. I'd leave him on the floor until the end and tell him to keep shooting.

It's nice to have WIU on the backside of this road trip. They are battling against NDSU and we are cruising to the finish.

wiu held NDSU to under 40 and won handily... Jacks are gonna need the crowd and their best effort to take this one home.

Jacks now control their own destiny. Win on Saturday and at Omaha and the #1 seed is ours. Would have to lose both to potentially drop out of the top two seeds.

                  - The 45 points allowed by the SDSU men tonight are the fewest in a home game since giving up 32 points to Dakota State on Nov. 22nd, 1997.

Dykstra is back with a double-double. 15 boards and 14 pts, a good evening. I sense his confidence has been re-gained. YAall should be happy now or is there something still wrong?

Dykstra adjusted his game to deal with his nagging thumb injury. In the last two games he was tremendous on the boards. And last night he found ways to score other than from the 3-point line. It seems like he's back. White has been hitting a lot of shots. And getting quality minutes from Horstmann, Prince and Heemstra has been helpful of late. Once Bittle is back, the Jacks will be potentially a much deeper team. It seems like Coach Nagy's team is getting deeper and shooting better, which is great news for the Summit tournament.

Getting Bittle back will certainly help.Other than that i don't see this team getting deeper, we're one game removed from playing 4 starters 40 minutes and the 5th one 38. The Jacks haven't really developed much depth.

Need to see him do it in the clutch against a top tier team then I'll be beaming with enthusiasm. No doubt Chad and Jordan seemed relaxed an in the flow the last 30 minutes last night. Easy to do when the team you are playing against is significantly less talented. IUPUI missed plenty of wide open outside shots and that made the victory quite easy. WIU is considerably better and will be well prepared to give the Jackrabbits all they have.

                            Re: Iupui

Fans are too focused on what Dykstra has been struggling with (his scoring) and not focused enough what he's been bringing night-in and night out, which is rebounding.

Players should always ask themselves "If my shot is not falling, should I even be on the floor?" The answer is a resounding "yes" for Jordan. This team has won more consistently in the second half of the year because of Jordan's rebounding effort, and his defense has been pretty solid as well. He's matured a ton as a player, as it use to be if Jordan's shot was off, he'd have a bad game. Now, if he isn't shooting well, he just has a bad offensive game (and still gets some scoring due to easy, effort baskets), as he still hold value in other areas.
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

I suppose one could argue and I am, that it takes a less talented team to bring the best out of someone in a slump, which what I consider to be going on in Dkystra's case. Its like being a Chicago Cub who is batting .125 and is sent down to Iowa to regain confidence. I agree Jordan needs to show his stuff against WIU.

No doubt he has been better on the boards. His defensive intensity still suffers at times, not an indictment of his ability or effort at all, just an observation. It happens to every player even the best which is what Jordan is, one of the best players in the Summit league and beyond.

For this Jackrabbit team to have the best chance at winning the biggest games Jordan has to be what he is expected to be, a threat to knock down the 3 and a 10 rebound per board guy. If he is also able to hit some open 2's and get to the basket for layups this team is nearly unstoppable.

I didn't see the same defensive intensity from Jordan against IPFW or OU or the first 10 mins of last nights game when Gibbs scored 8 quick points on easy baskets. I'll stand by my assertion that the Jackrabbits have a much better chance of winning when Jordan is playing well offensively. Of course, the same can be said for Chad White, Braden Carlson, Tony Fiegen and Nate Wolters.
