Re: Bye-Bye, Bracketbusters
And, according to this Whitney tweet, there may not be regular brackets for the Jacks this year, either.
Stu Whitney @stuwhitneyESPN's Bracketology now has Western Illinois as Summit League representative in NCAA men's tourney, fighting through First Four as 16 seed.

I'm worried more about NDSU then W-Illinois
As far as Bracketbusters I just think in some ways it got too big, and in some ways it was too successful, Creighton, Northern Iowa, Gonzaga, and others are now house hold names. I do think though it helped teams like South Dakota St. with scheduling because of the return game the following year. That allowed for a game the following year with an opponent that was similar.

IMO, bracketbusters was a way for ESPN to create content to fill their channels, it has filled that role and they don't need/want it anymore. For most fans except the schools involved, SDSU playing Buffalo is barely a notch above the ping pong tournaments they showed in the early days of ESPN.
I expect a major conference to announce a deal with ESPN soon in an attempt to create their own TV network. Perhaps the Big 12, maybe Texas is realizing their actions are killing that conference.“I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I’m with isn’t it, and what’s it seems scary and wierd. It’ll happen to you.” — Abe Simpson

The MVC might have some less then quality opponents but they are at home, the Summit doesn't have a huge problem with quality away games, its getting quality home games, and I doubt the MVC would agree to any type of 1-1 with the Summit.
NBCSN has become pretty aggressive with college basketball and CBS' sports channel has as well. Wouldn't be surprised if something is developed within that.

Did you happen to notice that there will be some top high school players appearing at the Sanford facitilty near the airport this year. Some of the the Twin City powers will be playing. Give those private guys a chance and they will have an event. I still think that the Summit or another entity will make a marketable event come to fruition.

The ACC VS Big Ten "challenge" ,or something similar would be more feasible in my opinion. That's set up as each individual game is scheduled,as part of the yearly schedule.I think each conference seeds their members by pre-season voting on who will be picked and where they will finish in conference play, like all conferences do each yr.So,1 vs 1,2 vs 2, etc,so that it's a true test of all teams in both conferences.
All games are evenly divided between home contests and away games.
All teams alternate from home to away games every other year, when possible, might be a little tricky scheduling some years.
All games are played within the same week and on the home teams regular venue floor. It only requires one game to be used each year of each teams OOC games.
