Thanks for the links. Great, great shot. And great defense by the Sioux. Oops...did I say Sioux? Seriously, though, not much more you can do on D than what they did. Take the win, right the ship and move on, I guess.
Grumbling along and embracing my role. If I didn't care, I wouldn't care. Go Jacks!

UND looked like the tougher bunch of players last night. They took a punch and punched back. Our guys sort of withered away in the first half. They stood around and watched Nate try to make things happen and when he got them open shots, they blew them. That was the ugliest half of Jackrabbit basketball in years. It's easy to see how UND could be a frustrating team to play. They set approximately 200 screens per offensive possession. And the Jacks' defense was, for long stretches, atrocious.

Despite all the ugliness: They won. There is a lot of talent out there. Dykstra responded in the second half. White hit some shots, but disappeared for long stretches for whatever reason. Brayden didn't have a good game, but he's a tough competitor and will get it going. It seems like Prince and Heemstra haven't settled into clear roles.

I'm betting on a pretty motivated, and in Coach Nagy's words, "humble" Jackrabbit team showing up for that game Saturday.
        Holy nutmeg!

I am cetain that Alabama was saying the same thing at the start of the year. A win is a win...makes no difference if it is by 30 or 1. In fact, it might be good for this team to have to fight for a few victories. I would rather have a team that wins close games over one that blows teams away when it comes conference and tourney time.

I would rather have a team that plays up to its fullest potential every time out. This team often plays below themselves.

              Agreed.

but I will say, it is nice to have a team that can still find a way to win when they play below their potential. Just a couple years ago if this team had an off night, they would have gotten their door blown off. Just another progression of the MBB program.

I just hope they get things straightened out soon. That Minnesota game is one we have looked forward to for months and they won't even belong in the same gym if they play anywhere close to the way they did the last two games.

Having such high expectations can definitely lead to a lot more frustration. I think a Bisonville-esque suicide watch would have been in order here had White not hit that crazy shot last night.

I probably liked Brayden's reaction the best. He did not look thrilled to have it have to come down to that.

We are overreacting way too soon...the "Grit and Toughness" that we lost with Griff has led us to one more victory this year than we had at the same time last year. Perspective people...perspective...

I've heard Coach Nagy mention "humble" multiple times this season in regards to this team. That doesn't seem to be the best attitude when competing against people that want to step on your throat. How about we play with some swagger? That worked pretty well last year.

It seems like our playing style has changed back to that of the <10 win seasons era. Back then, we had guys standing around watching Cadwell or Garrett, now they are standing around watching Nate.

Bottom line is that we are 5-2, but this team will lose at least 5 conference games playing like this.

While I understand what you are getting at, I don't see this team getting beat right now 5 times in conference even playing the way they are now. Maybe that is part of the problem...the whole "lets cruise thru the non-con and then win the conference" attitude. One look at ORU last year should solve that problem.

That has to be the worst offensive stat line of his career - 23 minutes,0 for 2 shooting,0 points.

I think the UND game just shows us that this team isn't deep. I thought that even though we lost Griff, we would have other players step up or come in and make this team deeper.
Braydon's 1st foul was on a bad call. He was standing there with his arm up and got ran into. His 2nd foul was a stupid one. You are just 6 1/2 minutes into the game and you hack a guy going for a dunk(on the road). Even if he dunks it, it's just 2 points and we move on. He fouled the guy and sat out about the last 13 1/2 minutes of the 1st half. He did play a couple of minutes but not much.
Tony picked up 2 quick fouls, too. I don't remember his 1st foul but his 2nd was reaching in on a player driving out on the wing. He sat the last 12 1/2 minutes of the 1st half.
With those 2 starters out for 2/3 of the 1st half, we played the bench. Heemstra, Horstman and Bittle just didn't have any offensive punch. They were 0-4 from the floor. They didn't play bad and all 3 of them weren't on the court at the same time but we didn't have as many offensive weapons on the floor when they were out there.
We played 9 players. Four of those players didn't score( Carlson 0-2, Bittle 0-0, Heemstra 0-2 and Horstman 0-2). It's a good thing Prince scored some in the 1st half because Fiegen was in foul trouble. Fiegen came on big in the 2nd half. White's helped out some but he didn't have great numbers until he hit the big shot in the end. He hit enough to help out Wolters and Dykstra.
I am just talking about this game and that doesn't mean we will have a 3 or 4 people scoring the rest of the season but the scoring was tough to come by for some players in this game.

I think he means humble as in not overconfident. Lots of swagger on that Washington team we crushed last year.

Gotcha, do the players understand that nuance? From the outside looking in, it looks like we lack confidence, not that we are overconfident. I'm just saying "be humble" might not be the message some of our players need to hear.
