  • Re: GDT--Baylor

Will be tough to watch film on that game....yes Baylor didn't play like a #3 seed but SDSU didn't play as well as they have in the past. Shots fell early but when they got fatigued they were short. Lots of open looks....shots they typically hit and had the ball bounced a little different....well....great year...made entire state proud and put SD basketball on the map for a few days/weeks. Good news is virtually everyone is back and a year older. Something to build on for next year when they will be the favorite to win the league. A little tougher when the target is on their backs rather than not expecting to win all the time. Was an awesome run and exciting to watch congrats to the Staff and Athletes on a job well done. Made us all proud!

Dude, same thing goes for every Summit team that makes the Tourney, Last year ORu lost to Texas by 5, in 09 NDSU could have beat Kansas has Aldrich went out. Playing these teams at home or on the road really dont make that huge of a difference because both teams had to travel. Face it right now the B12, B10, PAC, ACC, SEC, Big E, MWC, WAC, MVC, HORIZON will always win. Sucks but its the truth, we dont play high enough competition thru the course of the year to win a game or two in the tourney

Well, I posted a while back that regardless of how this season ends, the theme next year would be "Unfinished Business."

The Baylor game pretty much locks that in, I think. Anything less than at least a first-round win, if not a trip to the Regionals, in the NCAA tournament next year is now, I think, a disappointing year.

High expectations? Yep, absolutely. Too high? Not if they can put out the kind of effort they played with tonight, while eliminating some of the (frankly silly) little mental errors that wound up costing them the game.

Just saying I think the venue and altitude had more to do then the team we played. We never play great in utah either. I think it has something to do with it. I disagree. As a league we are at the door step. A few plays in each of those games you mentioned and who knows then. Maybe you don't but I think it happens sooner then later that the summit wins a game and or gets 2 teams in.

One thing's for sure... Baylor's fans and players won't ever confuse us with "San Diego State" ever again.

I left my parents last night mid-game (10 min. left) after a child threw up.

I did listen on the radio for the mile and half ride home and we were down 57-50 when I got out at home, but I was confident we'd come back and at least tie it up.

It's 3:11 and I couldn't take it anymore, I had to see how the game ended up.

Sounds like we almost came back. I wasn't really impressed with Baylor. I think we should've won this game and I think we would have beat Colorado in a couple days as well. My bracket I had us vs Duke in sweet 16.

                  I'm with Filbert...unfinished business.

Ah well, it was still an entertaining evening with good food and good times with family, until one upped the chuck that is.

                  Back to bed.

with the Jacks playing as they did losing by eight I think that the door is now open to more high mids and power conferences making that phone call to the Sell's office and arranging a game with the Jacks. I think that when State makes a call to one of them they will be more receptive in playing the Jacks. Had we been blown out maybe not. Now getting home and homes or getting them to come to Frost ehhh. we are in a better position to request it though. But the door is open now where maybe it wasn't in the past.

I think the events of the last 10 days may have opened a lot of new doors in terms of competition, recruiting, attendence, fundrasing, merchandise sales, etc. It was a fun run and hopefully the women will extend it on Saturday.

Whatever the case, the hype for next year's MBB team will be off the charts. The Jacks are definitely back!

I sincerely hope that this will happen. It's the only way to make your name in D-I hoops if you come from a weak conference. You absolutely have to schedule a tough out-of-conference schedule if you want to be taken seriously in March. Plus it makes you a better tournament team if your players aren't afraid to play anyone anywhere.

I really thought the Jacks were going to win that one. I am very proud to say I'm a Jackrabbit fan and alum, even more proud today than I was yesterday. It was like a dream come true to watch and cheer for my university along with many other people that were brought together around this team. Great job by the players and coaches. Enjoy and celebrate what was a historic season.

Exactly, and that is what I was refering a few post back about getting 75 million from the big dance. The problem is that its not cold cash in the hand but 75 million worth of marketing efforts. I did not read the article close enough.

TV mentions or hints at new bodies for next year to add to the nucleus that is returning. One of would hope it includes the kid from DuPere Wisconsin. He looks like someone who can contribute immediately much like Prince did this year. Also there is the other kid from Bulgaria who red shirted this past season, one wonders what can he do for us. Lots too look forward to next year. Thanks again guys, you represented SDSU in the most honorable way.

Will raise two discussion themes on this thread, rather than starting two new ones:
                              - Nagy is a very, very good coach who built a program from the ground up (and probably deserves apologies from people who were calling for his head when times got tough). Surely major conference teams (Illinois... cough, cough) will come knocking, if they aren't already. What does the adminstration need to do to keep him, what are the prospects of him leaving, and, in the end, does HE believe this team is unfinished business, as some have so aptly put it on this board?
                              - Redshirts. Does anyone have a handle on the kids we held back this year, and what they will bring to the table next year? Had we had more depth, some of those threes would have fallen at the end of the game rather than falling short off the front of the rim. This is what makes the mid-major prototype, VCU, so good: they come at you in waves of similar players. Will we have that next year, and will that be the difference for us?

                              Go Jacks!

Tough to lose a game like that when we know we could have played better. I was really impressed by Baylor's rebounding and by their guards. Jackson absolutely killed us.

Turnovers killed us more than missed 3s and offensive boards.

I think Chad White answered some of those doubters that he had in the beginning of the season.

Great career by Griff. Loved watching him play.

Good season, can't wait for next year.
