    Re: IUPUI @ Frost

The IUPUI men's coach called us "South" once at least during the press conference.

    Heh.

(He also said he hadn't seen any team in the league do at home what SDSU has done, in terms of average margin of victory of 20 ppg--and he's been an assistant at IUPUI for a while.)

Just listened to TV's video (at terryvandrovec.tumblr.com in case you're wondering). I like the guy--seems like a straight shooter.

Got some good coaches in the Summit League, I think.

That was a very good basketball game from a fan's perspective. Everyone knows IUPUI is a much better team than its record indicates...much better. IUPUI would be a great team to follow and watch develop. They have some young talent that played very well and are sure to get better (just as they did from the first half of the season). They played hard, great sportsmanship, classy guys.

No question we have the toughest first-round draw in the tourney -- it's a game we can win, we're going to be favored etc. but it has potential to be an entertaining battle. An observer who simply likes basketball and doesn't favor one team over the other would have really enjoyed tonight's game.

The Jackrabbits were tough guys tonight. We seemed to make some adjustments on defense with about seven or eight minutes left in the first half and clawed our way back into the game.

Tony Fiegen had a great dunk just when we needed a tough-guy dunk. That should make some highlight film.

The student crowd was excellent both in numbers and noise-making when we needed it.
      Fun game, excellent atmosphere.

I had guessed the crowd was in the neighborhood of 4500 but officially it was a 3934. Well, the crowd played bigger.

Agree with JackJD, it was a fun game to watch. The student section was packed and loud and just a great atmosphere to watch a game.

We started out slow but turned up the defense and put on a 10-0 run with Nate on the bench to get back into the game. Great steal and dunk by Nate near the end of the first half. Jordan hit his first 4 3's in the first half and made 11 in a row over the last few games.

Nice to send Griff off with a win in his last home game, which hasn't happened much during the transition. Great to finish the season undefeated at home and looking forward to the tournament next weekend!

Since I was critical of him early, it is only fair to say this now:

Prince has played EXCEPTIONALLY well the last 3-5 games. I am glad and excited for his future.

Undefeated at home. That alone, is extremely impressive. Well done!

The way that Jordan is playing right now is at another level. He has to be the toughest match up in the league. Combining him with Nate gives this team a dual threat that jackrabbit fans have never seen.

Teams are confused on how to defend him. If you don't follow him out to the perimeter, he'll bomb a 3, if you do he drives to the basket.Tough, tough match up.

I loved the way Chad White posted up his man in the second half. If the Jags try to put a smaller guard on him in Sioux Falls,I would bet we will see more of that.

We will need to take advantage of that match up again in the tournament. Chad is a tough match up for anyone. The Jacks have a ton of weapons and we seem to be clicking at the right time. But, that IUPUI team scares me. Brayden and others will need to lock down on Alex Young. He is an extremely talented player.

Congats on the undefeated year at home and good luck in the tournament.

Yeah, having to play IUPUI doesn't seem like much of a reward for coming in 2nd. in the league. Young scares me in particular, he can go off and beat you.

He's a great athlete, but he does nothing to get his teammates into the game. Takes a lot of bad shots. BUT, you never want to see him get hot if his team is playing yours.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

They way I look at it is if he can go off say score 40, will the rest of his team get 40 also? My guess is they are going to try to clamp down on us on D or its gonna be a race to score 90. Either way I like our chances.

Agreed - if you get someone in his face early,Young throws up a lot of bad shots. And with Griff,Carlson,Prince,etc.. we have enough good defenders to do that for 40 minutes. And the Jags don't seem to be as effective in creating shots for Young as Oakland does for Bader and Hamilton.

The big question is - will we get the calls like we do at home? If we don't, how will we react?

Saturday's free throw totals for the men's and women's games combined - 45 for us - 17 for them.
