Good thing UMKC makes an astoundingly stupid play about every 30 seconds. How in the heck did those guys beat NDSU?
This, I wanted to say something similar but couldn't find the words. How does their coach maintain his sanity?

Tony Fiegen's stats were pretty unimpressive, 0-3 with 0 pts and 1 rebound. Maybe he got the bug?

I would say Tony Fiegen is a pretty serviceable post. In fact, i would say he is a pretty good post, especially considering our style of play and level of our league.

It is an extremely tall order to recruit a post at our level - I'm talking a post like Keith Benson or the guy from IPFW (who I wouldn't take on our team anyway). It is even more difficult to recruit a post for a team that plays our style - uptempo, 4 guard out, lots of 3's, point guard that dominates the ball, etc. All high school players want to go somewhere where they can showcase their game, and SDSU isn't a place where a big man can do that very well.

NDSU leading by 7 under a minute to play, so it looks like they had a split this weekend as well.

Our post play has greatly improved this year. One has to wonder about Korver who plays for UMKC. Not a bad player. Some of his relatives Larry and Bud were very good athletes at SDSU in the mid 1950's. I would think we had a least taken a look at him. But who knows.

Jacks are fortuneate to have some depth in the paint. An off night by Tony but Jordan picks it up tonight. Very good win after a really disappointing loss a USD. If the Jacks are going to make a serious run at winning the Summit Tony will be a big part of it.

Another big game coming up as we try to secure that number 2 seed.

Just for comparison sake, Korver is averaging 8.4 points and 3.7 rebounds on the season.

Tony is averaging 7.3 points and 3.9 rebounds on the year.

From my limited exposure to Korver, he seems to be more of a poor man's Jordan Dykstra than a drastic improvement in the center position.

I've watched almost every game this year, and I don't think there is true post in the league dramatically better than what we have.

Isn't the 2 seed locked up now since we won tonight? We are 3 up on NDSU with 3 to play. Even if we lose all three and NDSU wins out (we'd both be 12-6), we have the tie-breaker over them since we beat ORU once and they lost to ORU both times. Therefore, I think the 2 is ours. Anyone else have any insight?

I agree that Korver is a long way from a true post. I also agree with your earlier post that we will probably not be able to recruit a Benson type post. But if the Jacks could land a Will Hudson type player, they would be very tough to match up with.

Do we need to be cheering for SUU against IUPUI tonight to avoid IUPUI in first round of tournament? Agreed that UMKC or IPFW be a better potential first-round tournament match? IUPUI up by 1 with 16 to go in Cedar City,

IF IUPUI loses will be tied with IPFW and UMKC for two of the last slots in tourney. We have a chance to lay another loss on IUPUI in last game of regular season, who also has USD at home and NDSU on the road left after tonight. Would be nice to knock them out of tournament altogether.

UMKC ends with WIU, Oakland, IPFW (a game which could determine final tournament entry and SDSUJ first-round draw). IPFW ends with ORU and USD before that last showdown with UMKC

I dont have a problem with our current post players, in fact I agree with what you said about Korver who might be more of a role player than a starter for SDSU whereas he is a starter for UMKC. Talk about some dumb plays the one attempt dunk took the cake, I believe it was Trinity Hall, who is not a bad player, but most of those guys seem to not have a team concept. IOW, them seem to spell team with an i in it.

I said pre game in TV's chat we better win by double digits.

                              We did.

                              I'm happy.
