    Thing is, they had Callahan chasing Bader all over the court trying to cover him up . . . Oakland players weren't shy about the moving picks they laid on Callahan to free up Bader. Now, you can argue that maybe they should have been switching rather than chasing, but on the other hand SDSU's defense tonight looked like the focus was to take Hamilton out of the equation offensively (which, for the most part, they did--he had 16 but many of those were free throws).

    I agree it's awfully disconcerting that other teams' players seem to get awfully, AWFULLY good from 3-point-land vs. SDSU over the years, dating back to the D-II days. But again--Oakland and SDSU both made 14 3-pointers in the game. Bader, by himself, didn't win the game.

        I thought Taevaunn Prince had his best game as a Jack-9 points and 10 boards. Also,would have liked to see Tony get more than 11 minutes.

          I kind of agree as well...while rebounding wouldn't have hurt, if Bader shoots even SOMEWHAT human, we win.

            Nate nearly got his Triple double as well...21 pts 12 ass 8 boards.

            Also Dykstra played well. 23 pts on 9-15 (5-8 from 3) shooting 10 boards.

            Overall, 61 3's were shot. Half (33) of our total shots (66) were from downtown.

            28 of oaklands 58 shots were from downtown.

            That's unreal.

            Huh, we actually outrebounded them, 37-32. Based on Nagy's rebounding comment I'da figured we lost that one. I guess the ones we didn't get were crucial.

              But I'll also add that Valentine's illegal picks helped out a lot. He hipchecked the Jacks defender everytime Bader went of one of his "screens." If I was Coach Nagy, I'd be asking the officials to watch for it if we meet up with them in the tournament.
              holu cow I know, it was driving me crazy, he leaned and stuck his hip out and looked obvious to me.

                Bader: Jacks cover him even a bit more (or, alternatively, the refs call even a couple of those moving screens he was using to get open from Callahan) and they win;
                Free throw shooting: Jacks shoot a decent percentage--and connect on more front end of one-and-one's, and they win;
                Field goal shooting: Jacks hit a decent percentage in the second half, they win;

                Free throws killed us more than Bader did: OU outscored us in free throws 23-13. 3-pointers were 14 a side, even with Bader going off.

                Jacks beat themselves more than Oakland beat us. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
                I agree, bader was good, really good, but our missed fts late changed the game and missing a few rebounds the last 2 minutes gave them a few extra points.

                We better come out and kick some dead elephant butts next.

                    Bader came in to the game shooting 35% from three. Tonight he was 10-14 - 71%..... ouch

                      Saturday games will be huge. We still have a 2 game lead on the third place Bizun, if they win at OU they have my respect!

                      Road trip - Jacks 1-1, Buzun 0-2.

                      Go Jacks!!

                        If NDSU loses at Oakland and SUU beats USD on Saturday,the Bison will be in 5th place in the Summit.

                          Really the lead over the Bison is three games because of the head to head win. Get to 13 wins and 2nd place will be clinched. Go Rabbits!

                            Not to worried. Every place in this league is a tough play to play. ORU could easily go 0-2 next week-end just as we may yet this week-end. The rule of thumb is to go undefeated at thome and win half your road games. As of now we are 4-0 at home and 4-2 on the road. We only have 3 road games left and 5 home games. I think were going to be just find. Whose with me. Let's go.

                              The announcers on the internet stream were horrendously bad. They referred to about 3 or 4 people as Brayden Carlson.

                              The refs looked bad.

                              What a **** night.
                              I'll say this about announcing, the way the Jacks play (move the ball a ton, and pretty fast) plus the fact that Carlson and White look like brothers and Dykstra a cousin I can see them getting confused. They are similar built, similar height and long players who play the same type of game. The #'s aren't the easiest to see on the black uni's as well. I guess I'll let that slide, just because unless I'm watching a very good television version I can even get them confused from time to time.

                              I guess overall you can't give up 92 points. Rebounding and defense killed them.

                                I can't help it I'm gonna say it but why did we stick with griff on bader in the second half? I love how he defends and it nothing personal that he wasn't defending well but my point is just change it up. Try to get bader to put it on the floor not just catch and shoot. I thought 3 things. First why not have the guy who is guarding the illigal screener pop out. Or get a hand up. It was pretty obvious where it was going and that he would shoot it. Second. Why not put white. Who is taller and stronger who might bust throught those illegal screens faster or if cut under them could get a hand up just a little higher. I mean griff did a heck of an effort butjust try something differnt. Third option I thought was why not take horstman off the bench. Just for a minute at a time. Fresh legs so griff could get a breather and keep his legs shooting late in the game. Horstmans ups I think could have given bader just a little less time or harder shot when you have a super freaky jumper coming around an illegal screen. I guess I had 4 points. Lastly I know we tried a zone but why not try a box and one. Or in high school we called in two two todd. Two high two low and "todd" just blanket bader like crazy. Sub in a new "todd" every 2 min just keep fresher legs chasing bader around. As good as bader was I think we helped him out that we didn't change how we defended him. Well that and those illegal screens sure helped him. Ok last thought on those. I know I hate flopping in basketball and griff is to hard nosed in a good way to do it imo but every illegal screen he should hace flopped. Make the refs actually call it. Draw attention to it and then they either get foul trouble or stop doing it.
