Unfortunately I have to agree with SDSU/BHS.
I don't think Coach Nagy is giving up by any means but it did look as if him and coach larson were fairly reserved last night. It may have been a result of being frustrated early and thinking "here we go again" as we were down twenty in the first half. I think sometimes as a coach there is not much more you can do and leaving it up to the players may actually help. i got the impression last night that coach was saying "it's your game go and do what you want with it". It's probably not all bad. The players definately need to take responsibility.
Like Rabbit in Verm said, man is it fun coaching from a computer.
I think that's probably about right. I know nothing about coaching, but I do know a thing or two about college kids. Sometimes, hollering reaches a point of diminishing returns. I'm sure those kids know he's disappointed. Maybe he's yelled so much that they're not listening anymore. Or they don't respond well to it. Who knows?
Yelling is seldom the answer. I have the feeling that all involved with the SDSU basketball program is equal parts frustrated, upset and embarrassed with this season's results. I guarantee as bad as we feel about the game's outcome, the players and coaches feel worse.

I can agree and disagree with the different opinions regarding the mens basketball team.
1) Agree--The young guys need to see the floor more and the seniors see it less. It's time to look to the future.
2) Disagree--Critizing Nagy? Are you kidding me? Here's a guy who's won close to 80% of the games he's coached in 10 years at State. We all knew this year would be tough, dI or d2. I refuse to believe Nagy has lost his fire and has given up on the season.
3) Agree--Players not giving 100%, 100% of the time. It seems, as with a lot of things in life, if things are going well, then they're giving it their all. The guys on the floor at the end of last's nights game were busting their balls. It's too bad they weren't doing it the whole game.
4) Believe it or not, this team does have a lot of potential.
Beran is a damn good ball player.
Green has shown flashes of how good he can be.
Loney is a model of consistency.
Casey provides a nice spark, plays with flare and, in my computer coaching, should be on the floor a lot more.
Holdren can play the 1 or the 4, very versitile.
Klienjan needs to step up and consistently hit outside shots and rebound well.
Geiver and Hokenson, thanks for the time put in, but it's time for the younger guys to see some of your minutes.
DeJong, DeWho??
With Gilbert and Caldwell playing next year, it should give us a much more athletic team.
I believe Steve Emming said that Ben Beran played 38 minutes last night. The guy Ceaser from Morningside played the entire 40 minutes.
Nagy will never lose his fire as long he is breathing. I sure he feels helpless and maybe confused at times, but here is a very good basketball mind that can solve problems.
The greats like Bobby Knight, Roy Williams to name two, probably have never faced a situation where their experienced talent cupboad is so bare as it is this year.
I think too, when ever Coach Nagy mentions lack of talent, I think he is really speaking of experienced talent and is not questioning his own recruiting choices.
I think with the three redshirts and more playing time by the current roster, next year will definitely not be a replay of 04-05. Things will start to come together.
Lets face it we do have an unusual situation at SDSU this year. Also the win for Morningside was huge.

I think you're right on the money here. It sure is hard for someone use to success and winning to go through a season like this one. We have been kind of spoiled during the Nagy era.
We are here to add what we can to life, not get what we can from life. -Sir William Osler
We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.
Good point SDSUFAN, another look at the UMKC stats tells the story. Only 9 of SDSU's 85 points graduates at season's end. 76 points came from Sophomores and Freshmen (no Jrs. on the team).
Nagy's a big boy, and he's been more critical of himself in public than any poster I've seen here.
Anybody remember Andy Moeller? Landon Scott? Those are two big reasons why we're struggling this year. Two experienced guards who were proven 3-point threats would have been the difference in any number of losses we've suffered. There's a reason why Giever and Hokensen had four starts between them prior to this year.
IMHO best thing we can do from here on out is give Casey and Kleinjan all of the minutes they can handle and build toward 2005-06.
"You play with the players you have, not the players you want to have." :-D
Second best thing we can all do is relax. It's obvious that the Jacks were just tight, tight, tight vs. Morningside -- they're a much better shooting team than they showed.
So, Jacks, just go out there, have some fun, play good defense, and let'er rip the rest of this year.
Landon Scott, I had totally forgotten about him. I wonder what he is up to? Yes with his one year of JUCO playing that might have been a boost in guardship and shotting.
I think both Scott and Moeller had their reasons for leaving and I dont think any of those reasons reflect on the mens basketball program.
Without a good wholesome, loyal attitude, it could have been just two more problems if they stayed at SDSU.
If the youngsters are not happy and willing to give 100 percent day in and day out, what they have done in the past and what their skills are do not mean much.
I think you can win with good attitudes and weak talent, but try to win with good talent and weak attitudes it sometimes does not work.
I along with most knew it would be a difficult season, but for 1, the Morningside game sould be a "W" they are a far cry from being Div. I calibur? Am I wrong? I have never complained about any of the other loses. And this was also a game that I was watching in person and not listening via the radio.
If you agree or not, their are NO EXCUSES for losing to a Morningside squad at HOME, transition or not.....IMO.
I agree Moeller's loss had a definite impact on the year. However, Nagy said that it was clear that Scott was not going to make the team this year if he had stayed. If he was viewed by the coach as not as good as the players we have playing, not sure how he would have helped.
I think the most telling stat about this team is the one about the points from the UMKC game. When you have 90% of your points in a game from fresh/soph, your team will fluctuate a lot from game to game. Experience is being gained, and that will help next year.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you can never teach a stupid dog anything.

I am as disgusted as anyone, but the game is in the record book, and there are no excuses that can be offered. Traveling to attend home games is becoming a lower priortity now after Wednesday game, but I am going to keep on listening at least and stay faithful.
I do give Morningside credit, in that their team seems to be moving forward, but the fact that they had lost to a Park College by 4 the last game out may have helped in their motivation, especially since they beat Park by 30 at the beginning of the season. Park College is not even a good NAIA program.
I'm not even sure the younger players we have are going to be the answer but there is certainly some talent to build around. Two guys who have to become more consistent are Green and Loney. If you look at their stats it's up and down depending what kind of matchups they have that night. I realize they are both young but for us to have success those two have to play a bigger role.
