It's one thing to be the one shooting the ball, but it had to get old/boring to be the one retrieving the stupid thing and throwing it back, night after night after night after night.

Nate is the hardest senior to replace according to this article by bleacher report.

They compare the time with Nate and the time before Nate, and it will be hard to replace him, but he has helped tremendously in recruiting by putting SDSU on the radar.

With the draft I'd say that local ties and popular players do impact especially with the second round, as for making a roster probably not, but if its close I don't think it hurts at all.

My hypothetical of Nate to the Wolves assumes that he is still better than Ridnour, hence the better player debate. I agree with your position above if the local kid gets picked just because he is local and does unseat a better player. I don't think the NBA works that way, but with guys like Mark Cuban who knows.

No, under the hypothetical situation where the Twolves put Nate on the roster to sell tickets, a better player ends up in Europe.

Let's take Nate out of the equation since that seems to be a stickler.

-Player A takes the last roster spot on NBA Team 1 because he is a local favorite and will sell boatloads of tickets.

-Player B, who is more talented than Player A, ends up with NBA Team 2.

-Player C, who is also more talented than Player A, ends up with NBA Team 3.

...

-Player Z, who is also more talented than Player A, finds no NBA roster spots remaining. His only options are to play in Europe or the D-League. Or sell State Farm (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I don't think I've ever stated that I think Nate belongs in the NBA.

I think that Nate's work ethic almost works against him for the draft because the scouts see think of it as a lowered ceiling rather than this guy can learn how to do anything we ask of him. Like raise your 3point percentage by 15 points in one off season. I think he will be more athletic in the NBA just by willing himself to be so.
