First game in three weeks from today. I'll enjoy football and the fall sports until then, but no doubt it will be fun to watch BB this year!!

TV link on his twitter page an article on Bleacher Report that has the Jacks listed as one of the top 10 mid-majors to look out for:

          http://bleacherreport.com/articles/5...-season/page/3

Granted, it is a Bleacher Report article so it isn't exactly the most credible journalism, but it's still nice to get some recognition and gets me excited for the upcoming season.

I can't take this seriously if Oral Roberts isn't even in it. They're going to be the favorite to win the conference by far. Not saying it isn't good publicity for SDSU though.

Yah, that's why I had to put the disclaimer of it being posted on "bleacher report". Oral Roberts definitely has to be the favorite coming into the season, but I do think if some of the players have developed as expected over the off season the Jacks will be in contention.

Why does ORU have to be the overwhelming favorite? We played well against them losing by 4 and 8 in highly contested games. Our team will be more experience even though we lost Sargeant and Moss. IMHO sargeant was a spot-up shooter that look over half of last year to refind his stroke only to lose it again in the tournament. Moss' energy and defense will be missed more. From what I hear Dykstra, fiegen, and Heemstra have all improved and not to mention Wolters being a year older and a year mature. I know this is SDSU, but what is wrong with saying yes we are favorites and we should be the favorites because we are a good team. Joe Lunardi has the Jacks being a 15 seed in the NCAA tourney. Time to start saying this a good team with great things ahead of them.

I agree with a lot, but "what is wrong with saying we are the favorites" is that we haven't done much to prove it yet. Your defense to ORU being the favorites is that we lost 2 close games to them? Sounds like what some SDSU fans make fun of USD fans for. Losses, even close ones, don't mean anything. I think we can easily compete for the title, but that doesn't mean we have done anything to deserve to be the favorite. We can't even beat our biggest rival. Also, Joe Lunardi most likely spends as much time watching Summit Hoops as I do watching Canadian football. ORU is the rightful favorite.

Close losses don't mean anything during the year, but how don't they mean anything in the offseason. It means that you are just about even with them, and you realize that you are that much closer to being that team that gets it all together. Detroit Lions anyone...... Joe Lunardi prolly has watch some games due to Wolters. The espn international analyst knows who he is and says he could start on any team. Not to mention with Oakland and Keith Benson last year he would her had to watch Summit basketball. The team has improved every year and has talented players and made a decent run in the tourney last year.

But does that mean we should be favorites? No. ORU is the favorite until we take them out.

I wasnt saying that we should be overwhelming favorites. It was the fact that SDSUAlum08 said that ORU are the favorites by far. I think we have the same shot as ORU as taking the Summit title. It seems everybody in the mid-major world thinks we should be a good team and favorites at that except for their own fans. Thats modesty at it's worst

You asked why shouldn't we be the favorite. I answered because we lost twice to the team that IS the favorite. I think we can win, but we should not be considered the favorite.

Call me a homer, but everytime SDSU takes the field or court or what ever it is they are playing, They might not be the favorite but I think they are going to win. ORU is good, we will be good too. They have a lot of talent coming back and so do we. Even Oakland will still be darn good and NDSU is not bad either. We lost to oakland in the turny when they jumped out to a big lead on our soft defense. We are the only team in the confrence that I think could have out scored them last year. This year I feel offensively we will be the tops in the confrence. If D improves even just a little bit, we have more then just a chance to win it. So who is favored to win doesnt mean much to me, but I think we can and will beat other teams in the confence no matter who it is.
