Brad Soderberg comes in somewhere between Thorson and Nagy, as far as the timeline.

Nagy had no affiliation with SDSU that I'm aware of.  Swept in from Illinois and brought Sempsrott with him.  The rest is recent history.
          Great minds think alike!

I agree that State is better off with Nagy, but I'm sure there were some upset people right away--firing a guy a year after going to the Elite 8.  Was Nagy Thorson's assistant?
Nagy was an assistant with Thorson from 90-93, I did not know that until today.

Thor got jobbed big time, I'm glad he landed on his feet.

You can add those numbers any way you want, people are way to fickle.

As I recall, the controversy involving Thor's termination involved a couple of factors. He had been pretty successful during the end of his tenure and, apparently, he was notified of the termination in a less-than-professional manner. I don't recall specifics, but perhaps someone else can fill in the blanks. Thor eventually went on to have some pretty good success at Mount Marty.

There are a number of things I could add but won't.  All of our coaches have only a 1year contract that expires on June 30 every year. If Thorson had the record that Nagy has now he would still be the head coach, plus his relationships with players got to be front page news when he pulled three scholarships about a year before his contract was not renewed.

From what one athlete expressed in the Argus, he felt that this loss of scholarship was taken in a less than professional fashion also.  So what comes around goes around. :

Its history now, we have had above average coaches since Sox Walseth took over from Reuben Frost in 1954, but each has had their own problems one way or another. Zulk and Thorson seem to yo-yo in terms of wins and losses. I guess its more than wins and loses though and its about how the athlete feels about SDSU when his career is over. This is important to our current AD as he has told me so more than once.

I happen catch the Brad Soderberg Show on KMOX radio a week ago, he has won only six games at St Louis but still  is an upbeat guy.  Personally I liked him, but was not so crazy about his half court offense that was really Dick Bennett's style.

Mark Tetzlaff is a banker for Reliabank in Watertown. He also farms on the side. His daughter is a sophomore standout for Watertown...she played for Deuel (that's Clear Lake) last year but the family transferred in to Watertown. Mark's wife, Sara, is a former Jack cheerleader and teaches at Watertown HIgh School.

                    Nice family.

If that was all there was to the lawsuit then you would be right. Since it wasn't you should go look up the information so you understand what was about.

Sorry this is such a late reply, but I have been away for awhile and am just getting caught up.
