I think he does it quite easily. Also becomes the assist leader. Best ever to suit up for SDSU? We'll see...

Looking at stats, Wolters would have to score 1,262 points in his final 2 1/2 years. He currently has 669 points (303 and 366 so far this year) in 49 games. I put in 70 games (I used 30 games for the next two years and 10 more for this year. Obviously it could be more with Summit League Tournament games and what not). He would have to average just over 18 points a game (18.02) to tie it. Currently this year he is averaging 19.3 points a game. As of now, I'm going to say yes.

I don't think there will be as big a jump between seasons his final two years but even with slight improvement he can do it.

Regarding assists that TeaJackrabbit brought up, he currently has 201 assists (86 last year, 115 so far this year), he would have to average around 5 assists a game the final 70 games of his career. He's averaging over six a game this year. That should be in his reach as well.

I look at maybe Alex Young as a better guard. But Nate is possibly the complete guard. Can do it all. I take him allday over Reggie. No dis to Reg, he's good. Grizz- you caught Nate on one of his worst nights of the year(yet he still had 16). Wish you would have seen him against Iowa (BigTenNetwork guys were giddy over him) or against NDSU or ORU (look up the box scores) . We're all biased, I know. So there will be no end to this argument. I just know that I'm glad he's here another 2 years after this year. We'll keep him.

Also Grizz, I would feel bad if I didn't say congrats on tonights win. Kampe is a fine man. We are rooting for you to run the table (or lose to us in the O-Rena) and hopefully get a good seed in the NCAA's and do our conference proud.

Question for you....are you pleased on the addition of SDSU and NDSU to your conference?

Very much so. Both your teams have passionate fans . (good message boards) and have made the Summit MUCH better. Good places to play and you do have good young teams. I;m hoping South Dakota is like you guys. I think you will go dancing someday in the near future. but I think your finding out it isn't that easy. And I think Nate will be the best player in the league (his senior year)

I think he definitely has a good shot barring injury. One thing that might slow him down is that right now he scores because he has to. As our team becomes more balanced (hopefully) in the future, he will become more of a pass first player. Also, if we get the bigs we truly desire, that will make us more of a half court team and will slow down everyones scoring.

I'd take Nate over everyone but Benson. Nate would destroy on Oakland with Keith underneath. The amount that he helps the guards on that team is insane. Bader had wide open looks all night long because of how our defense is sucked in. Every guard on Oakland goes into the game with defenses trying to shut down Benson, not them. Nate goes into ever game with defenses trying to stop him. I was very impressed by the Oakland guards, but none of them impressed me more than Nate has over this year.

Read your own blogger's breakdown of Nate vs. the Oakland PG's:
                http://grizzliesgameplan.blogspot.co...d-at-sdsu.html

"As is readily evident, Wolters blows the Oakland guards out of the water by this measure. He also happens to be the best scorer of the bunch. Wright and Hamilton don't fair as well here because, well, neither player is a true point guard. Ryan Bass has been billed as one, yet he just hasn't had the chances to get experience. The combination of inexperience and lack of fit in this role has led to a decent amount of turnovers. This comparison serves as a microcosm of the teams at large. SDSU has a league-best turnover rate of 13.1% in conference games, while Oakland checks in with a middling 18.6% turnover rate. Despite this fact, the comparison also shows that OU has a bit more depth than SDSU at the guard spot. Depth is a battle that Oakland probably also wins when taking the teams as a whole."

Once again, I'm not trying to take anything away from the OU guards. They were great last night. But they also have the benefit of playing with a first round draft pick. That might help them out on offense and defense, hmm? Great team Oakland has, best I have ever seen in Frost.

Nate was still the best guard on the floor

Great post RO. Imagine Nate with even a Colton Iverson-type underneath.

                  Go Jacks!!
                  SDSU...Passionate, Relentless, Champions.

If you don't think the NBA plays defense, i'm guessing you haven't watched a game in about 15 years.

Agreed. Otherwise a guy like Adam Morrison wouldn't be the 12th man on a team.

Well just in fairness, that is just my take, and I'm just one fan. I think the stats don't lie, but Grizz certainly makes some good points. Likewise, in fairness to the Oakland guards, that statistic I use does not take into account defense, and I also point out that despite OU's lack of a pure point guard, the team is undefeated so to a certain extent it is moot. Still, there is no denying Wolters' numbers. And most would say he passes the eye test, too.

With Wolters, White, and Dykstra - SDSU has a solid foundation. If Heemstra develops into a starter and a few other guys come along, that is a team that should be a contender in Summit League if not next year, then definitely in 2012-13.

You think the Bison are going to lose just twice in the 2nd half? They couldnt win at Southern Utah or Western Ill, two of the bottom teams. So that means they would have to win at either Oakland, IPFW or Oral Roberts. They wont win at any of those 3 places.
