If Nate keeps playing the way he is, he should be given serious consideration for Summit player of the year. Probably not likely to happen with all the hype surroungin Benson, but what could be better for the image of the league than to say that our best player wasn't the guy who was a first round pick...
Season Stats
Wolters - 19.3ppg, , 3.8rpg, 6apg, 1.4spg
Benson - 16.9ppg, 10.3rpg, 1.2apg, 3.6bpg

Best comment Coach Sutton made was it wasn't bad defense on Nate, it's just Nate is that good. Even with hurting his finger or fingers in the first half, he saw on fire that night.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--
Yea, and who did those stats come against vs who's Benson's came against. The most important stat your missing is Oakland 6-0 SDSU 3-2. SDSU wins the league then the kid will win player of the year. And you really believe he is the "best player" in the league. I doubt he would be in the first 4. I would take Benson, Young, Morrison, Hudson, Tweet, if I was drafting a team from our league before I took him.

What helps Benson is avg double double, what helps Wolters is his scoring in big games and assist avg. I am going to guess it goes to Benson with the better confrence team but Wolters will be in the running the next 3 years for sure.

I agree with the better record for Oakland helping Benson win it, but we are not talking about drafts, we are talking about the best players in the confrence, Wolters stats are better then most, the team record is what hurts him. If Benson was not on the top team in the confrence, do you really think he would win it based on stats, if Wolters had better confrence record, he wins it.

How many times have you seen Wolters play this year? He is the best guard in the league - no doubt in my mind. Benson is the league MVP this year. Oakland is great team this year and some of that has to do with Benson, but he has plenty of support as well.

No need to get testy.
Is it a requirement to win the league to be player of the year?
Wolters numbers are pretty impressive. Maybe he isn't the best in the league, but he is playing well enough to be given serious consideration, which is all I said. I didn't say he would win it, I didn't say he should win it, I said he should be considered.

Morrison's coach just called Wolters the best guard in the league. Hudson shouldn't be on your list of players ahead of Wolters, I would challenge you to justify that one in any tangible way.
We all know what Oakland's schedule has been like, and I didn't discredit what Benson has done. Your post certainly tries to take away from Wolters and his accomplishments, which is low rent, IMO.

A great team this year??????, Oakland has won 30 of their last 31 regular season league games and 35-of 37 counting Conference tournaments. Benson lead Oakland has dominated the league like no other team in history. Of the six games this year Oakland has lead by over 30 in three of them, over 20 in the other two and by 17 at in the last one at ORU. Oakland is winning league games by an average of 22 points a game. This team has all new players this year other then Benson and Hudson. Wright played last year but has been hurt. The common denominator for this domination is BENSON. To think anyone else in the league is a better player is well, let's just say not very smart.

If things continue, I would agree, Benson has to be the Player of the Year. Nate will be first team as a point guard. We need to add some talent around him, and need to get a good post defender.

Dude, no one is trying to discredit him or Oakland. Jeeze.

Benson is NOT a guard. Nate will likely be the best GUARD this season in the Summit.
IMHO, which is all I can give, Nate is doing great at impowering others with his passing and point play. He has also showing a willingness to put the team on his back and carry them, all without being a ball hog.
An early (pre-season) poster stated that Nate took big strides since last year. I would agree with that. He has also had a year to develop confidence in his teammates, and that is showing through. He will be a GREAT general leading the team the next 2.5 years on the court.
