Oakland has played a very tough schedule and Benson has played well. He's the player of the year. Nate will get his shot at that honor before he's done.

Of the six games this year Oakland has lead by over 30 in three of them, over 20 in the other two and by 17 at in the last one at ORU. Oakland is winning league games by an average of 22 points a game. This team has all new players this year other then Benson and Hudson. Wright played last year but has been hurt. The common denominator for this domination is BENSON. To think anyone else in the league is a better player is well, let's just say not very smart.

          Meh.

Benson's position is so over-rated, we here at SDSU don't even feel the need to have someone at his position on the team.

I would take Benson, Young, Morrison, Hudson, Tweet, if I was drafting a team from our league before I took him.
Like everyone else has said, the thread title is "best guard in The Summit". I believe Benson is not considered a guard so please don't take too much offense if people talking about guards get snippy with someone talking about a center. Nate has had a great year so far. But until SDSU gets into the top 2 or 3 teams in the league, he won't have a shot for POY. Benson has very good numbers. He will get POY award unless they totally fall apart. Of course you will say every player on Oakland's squad is better than anyone else in the league, but if you actually started breathing air again and came back to reality, you would realize Nate is a very good player and you would love to have him on your team.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

              Wolters
              Morrison
              Young
              Hudson
              Benson

There's your all conference team right now, no doubt about it.

I think this one's pretty good.

I'd go with Tveidt over Morrison due to the injury.

Mrs. Benson's team has no guards on it. Young is a forward more than a guard. The couple of times I watched him last year, when he was playing guard he turned the ball over at a ridiculous rate. Look at Wolters Asst./TO ratio for a point guard playing 35 minutes per game.

I will say Benson is the league MVP right now. He's a force on both ends of the floor. I'll be interested to see how Wolters drives the lane against him.

Wolters is a sophomore. I remember Benson being a very raw talent on the offensive end as a sophomore. If Wolters is still that raw, he'll dominate this league as a senior more than George Hill did.

Wright is the other guy who could be in the discussion for best guard in the league, that's it if you're not considering Young a guard, which I'm not.

Not saying you're wrong, but it would be hard to leave Tveidt and Sargent (if he stays second in scoring during league play) off that list.

I guess every year there are probably 8 or so guys deserving first team honors, there's only 5 spots though.

I've never been a fan of all-anything teams that seem to favor teams who finish high in the final standings. Just because a team has a poor record doesn't mean their individual players don't deserve recognition for their personal accomplishments.

I get frustrated with all-state-tournaments with a guy who scored 8 ppg on the championship team being selected to first team, while a guy who averaged 25 but placed last is delegated to third team status.

And with that, I believe this thread has officially jumped the shark.

Re: Nate Wolters is the best gaurd in The Summit

The Summit first team has six players, not five.

                    Right now I'd say

                    Wolters
                    Tveidt
                    Young
                    Benson

look solid with Hudson, Morrison(injury issues), Botts, Sargent, Spencer Johnson and Nobles fighting it out for last two spots.

I think Tviedt has to be on the list, as he has been a very solid small foward/shooting gaurd over the last four years. His resume over the years is better than Clint's and if the Jacks get Wolters, we probably won't get two on the First Team.

According to TV's blog,Nate still leads the Summit in both scoring and assists. That is an unusual (but good) combination.

Here's a question, for those with better knowledge of NBA than I...`

If Wolters keeps this up, does he have a shot at the NBA when he graduates?

I have no idea how he stacks up body, size, or position wise with NBA guards?

He's probably not quick enough to play the 1 in the league. And the release point on his shot is a little low.

Take my analysis for what it's worth though: not much.

Tveidt has been getting very little love on B-Ville, hasn't he?
