      Re: ChannelSurfing

I have Extra at 99.50 a yr,(2nd yr running)....don't use channelsurfing, so i guess it's cheaper to go 40 bucks for the 4 mos of basketball only(cancel out),........can afford more pie that way

You say that you turn to channel surfing when the game isn't streamed through Jackrabbit Extra. Yet, if channel surfing is streaming the game, it has to be available for viewing in some way (other teams website/viewing package, other conferences package, extra sports pack/channel through your satellite provider, PPV, etc.). So in essence, by not subscribing or paying for one of those options, you are stealing that content from another team or organization - just not SDSU.

So is it acceptable to steal content from our opponents or another source because one isn't a fan/supporter of them?
Like I said in the original post, I didn't intend this to become a holier than thou thread.

You're right, I am stealing that content from other schools. But I also don't pretend to support those schools financially or otherwise. Obvious bending of morality to suit ones own argument, but in my mind, that makes a bit of a difference. When it is reasonably priced (for me, that means under $10 a game) I try to buy the game from the host school. In fact, I did that for the Eastern Illinois road game and St. Thomas games last year.

I understand the reality that people have to make choices in how they spend their dollars, and usually the cheapest alternative will win out. Unless the shopper is seeking value. ChannelSurfing lets me watch some of the games for a very low cost. Buying Jackrabbit Extra lets me watch most of the games plus feel good about supporting SDSU athletics for about $2 a game. Which one has more value?

I also bought Extra when it was an incredible value, right before the first home game. I'll try to start a thread next year at about the same time so folks can get in when its at the peak value. At that point in the beginning of the season, it really is a great value, IMO.

More than anything, I just wanted to encourage people to consider Jackrabbit Extra as reasonably priced alternative to ChannelSurfing. My initial language may have been a bit strong in hindsight.
