You dont think the NDSU game would have turned a little different will a big body who likes to be around the basket with a good skill set and can hit FTs? I dont mean that he is the reason we lost, but if we had a little more help like what he can do, I feel we would have won the game.

Sure, another big would have helped during the NDSU game. But if Clint doesn't lay an egg that game, we're all congratulating each other on stopping the losing streak in that series.

If Griff doesn't foul out against the Gophers, either team could have ended up on top in that one.

Don't get me wrong, I would take Iverson in a heartbeat. But we have a very good big in Dykstra and Griff can hold his own against almost anybody.

NDSU and all their bigs basically got blown out by the Gophers. We had the lead with 7 minutes to go. Big players don't equate to wins, big plays do. Minnesota made more big plays down the stretch.

I'd still take Iverson. He would help SDSU win the Summit Tourney and help beat Oakland. That's what really matters.

He hasn't shown me enough for me to agree with you. He might eventually, but right now that's a ridiculous statement, IMO.

And Iverson helped to make those plays. Just sayin.

... because Griff was on the bench with 5 fouls. Just sayin.

Its not like Iverson is an all american, or even all big ten. What exactly has Iverson shown you?

As a basketball player, Dykstra can do things Iverson simply cannot, that point is not even debatable.

I would take Iverson for our team, I just wouldn't trade Dykstra to get him.

Because he was going against a guy 6 inches taller. If Griff was even just a little taller, I would agree with you, but his height does limit him some. You cant teach being 6-10. If we had a solid post player, we would have atleast 2 more wins right now this year IMO.

I feel for us to compete for league title year in and year out, we need to have both types of players. A 6-8 to 6-10 true post who stays in the post who is comfortable there, and a multi use player 6-8 like dykstra who can do many good things to help but his range takes him away from the basket some.

To beat a top 25 team it needs both, not one or the other, to win the league we need a post, not just 6-4 guys with hustle, we need a little more to be a little bit more to be a all around team taht it takes to be where we want to go.

There are hundreds of D-I schools that "need" the same thing but they don't have them either. If there was a bunch of them out there, we'd have one by now. Our coaches know what we need way more than all of us on here combined.

Kind of like comparing apples to oranges - Iverson is a true back to the basket,shot-blocking and rebounding post who isn't looked to for scoring. Dykstra,at least at this point in his career, seems to be more comfortable facing the basket and has the outside scoring ability that is more suited for a forward type player. Iverson will at no point in his career be the scoring threat that Dykstra already is,but Jordan will probably not be the true shot blocking, rebounding post either.

Just because the coaching staff hasn't been successful yet in bringing in a good true post doesn't mean they think they couldn't use one. If that were the case, Mark Engen and the JUCO post who had the freak injury and never played would not have been brought in.

Most sucsessful mid majors need a true post big man, look at oakland this year, Butler last year, size is needed and everyone knows that but to be the team we need and how Coach Nagy likes to play, we need a post to do it. Even Having Grius, it AC wouldnt have dicked the team, he would prolly be at SDSU and his abilities in the post would really help this team. This team can still be darn good, but having a guy like matt jones in the post would help a lot with league play for teams that do have a legit centerman.

Oakland has had Keith Benson for 3 full seasons now. They have been to 1 NCAA tournament and won 1 regular season championship during his career.

As long as the team rebounds and defends, they have a chance to win the Summit. And it doesn't take a true 5 to rebound and defend.

Matt Jones was closer to 6'6" than 6'8".
