We are Colton Iverson type player away from being a really good team. Not sure why Tivis got minutes over Stephenson? I was noticing during warm ups that Dwight looked really energetic and I think it was because he knew he was going to play. We could use another big body during conference play. Tony is an enigma for me as he just seems to get lost out there.
If we had a post like an Iverson, we win this game hands down. Thats why it hurts to lose our top talent, If we keep that in state, we can compete more then people realize.

Tony, I think will be like a Brian Zoubeck from Duke, can be a role player and have a good game and some bad games, but come his senior year, he will have it all in place and figured out and be better then people think.

If it takes Tony until his senior year to figure it out, it'll be too late for him. We have literally zero bigs (post players) this year and he still has been getting only about 5-10 min a game lately. For that number to increase in the next two years, with presumably more bigs on the roster, he flat out has to perform better.

I see him as the potenital that takes longer to develop then first thought. I felt he played really well during the summit tourny last year, He is still young and its hard because most teams we play have older or bigger posts, I think if we had a true post, it would benefit Tony the most.

I've had 12 hours to digest this, so I'm just going to let it all go...

SDSU played well. Just too many mistakes at the end of the game and the Gophers finally capitalized. That was probably the best I've seen the Jacks rebound all season and there were few more that they could have gotten as well. With all due respect to Tivis, I didn't even notice he was out there. Pederson provided length but just couldn't stay out there due to fouls.

Nagy talked after the game, that he was more disappointed about the first half and felt that SDSU could have led at the half if they would have executed better. I thought it was a very interesting way to look at the first half and now thinking about it, SDSU had chances.

Overall, a good showing in front of the largest Barn crowd of the year. Nice to see plenty of Jackrabbit fans. I can't wait for the day when SDSU defeats a Top 25 team.

Didn't get to see the game, but I'm not disappointed. A top 20 team with way more size than us and we gave them a hell of a game. Not bad.

I was at the game. Well done Jacks. Sat amongst the Gopher fans and they really didn't know how what to think throughout the night. They assumed it was going to be a walk in the park, but as the game wore on they realized we are a pretty darn good team.

Clint was awesome. He seems to play well every year against the Gophers. Nate is a wonderful player, but he was too careless with the ball in this game.

Could have been a win for us.

True, Nate's 7 turnovers weren't good for him, but I wouldn't exactly call it careless. The Gophers couldn't stop him in the first half, so he got double-teamed a LOT in the second half as they attempted to get him under control. Several of the turnovers came through those situations, and balancing that all off was 11 assists...that's a heck of a showing! I know he wouldn't be happy with 11 assists and 7 turnovers, but throw in his 16 points and he had a heck of a good game. And Clint was awesome, but again, at least three-four times in the second half, Nate got doubled up and managed to get a pass to a wide open Clint. And just for kicks, compare the game of Nate and Clint to their Gopher opposites...Hoffbarger and Nolen. No comparison! The difference came with the bigs...they're height advantage inside was the big factor in their win IMO.

This is one of those games where--I think--if you watched it, you're more disappointed than if you read about it later.

The Jacks were in the game until the end. It was NOT a game to come away feeling satisfied with.

The Gophers could have been taken, that night.

A good effort by the Jacks, yes, but also an opportunity which was missed. This made me--and I hope it made the team--that much hungrier for future success.

                        Onward!

After winning the Puerto Rico tournament,I think almost every team the Gophers played have felt like that. They play uninspired during the first half, and come out much stronger in the second. Getting Nolen back should help,as he is their only true point guard. Sounds like Iverson saved them - if Sampson played as hard and tough as Colton does,he would be an All-American. If the Gophers play like that in the Big 10,they won't be #16 in the country for long.

I agree with bigticket1 about the Gophers. They've had some curious starts to games this year. We had a great opportunity to beat them that night.

Meh, Iverson didn't do much until Griff fouled out. I think he had 6 or 8 of his points in the last 4 minutes. If I had to choose between Iverson and Dykstra, I'd take Dykstra.
