    Re: Mayville State GDT

The game goes in the books as a 27-point win. That's impressive. If Mayville's hot streak had occurred in the middle of the game instead of during the opening minutes, it probably wouldn't be grabbing so much attention. Let's enjoy what turned out to be a blowout victory.

During our DII days we would always play lesser opponents before conference started. Many of those games weren't blowouts like you would have expected. However, conference games rolled around and we were almost always great. It is hard to get up for these games and no matter how you do it isn't enough for some people. Nice win and now lets go get UWM on Saturday.

That being said, there's no reason to panic. This was a classic "letdown" game after a very emotional loss. I can't blame them for being a little flat. They're going to have to pick it up for Saturday though!

Who's panicking? A 27-point win for a 7-1 team? What do you want, a shutout?

A complete game, being down to mayville and bouncing back is one thing, wait till we are down 10-2 to oakland then trying to come back in the second half. It was a problem for many years, slow starts always would hurt us.

The Iowa game was start to finish a good effort. Most of the games this year are lower quaility games, when we get to the heart of confrence play, poor shooting, or rebounding or effort nights will not be enough. The team is at a good record, but from past failures, we are not able to say we are comfortable untill we can prove we can win consistanty in complete effort games in confrence play.

Only Southwest Minnesota and Mayville State really could be called "lower quality games." Dakota State, too, but that was an exhibition and doesn't count. As I understand it, the Summit League allows two games a year against lower-division teams. Let's play them, make good use of them as tune-ups, and enjoy them. As many fans may painfully recall, the Jacks got whipped early in the transition by some D-II teams. That doesn't happen any more.

I heard Nagy's comments after last night's game and he stated that he and the coaches were just saying that they need to get White more minutes. Is it safe to say that Moss's minutes will slowly go down as the season goes on? Does anyone else think that it is just a matter of time before White is in the starting line-up?

I think White going into the starting lineup is quite possible and expected eventually however I don't know if that equals Moss losing minutes.

Given his recent shooting slump, Clint Sargent's minutes might be in greater jeopardy. Dale Moss' defense and rebounding abilities are very valuable to this post-less team. I'm a Chad White supporter. He's got great offensive potential and versatility, but the coach has expressed concern about his defense. His greatest value may be coming off the bench, especially if Clint starts nailing shots again, which is likely.

As long as Moss keeps his focus and contributes on defense and on the boards then his minutes will not decrease. He is incredibly important to this team when he is locked in to playing defense up to his capabilities.
