    Re: Eastern Illinois game...

Wow, we've got them fighting amongst themselves. Been a while since a player has called out his teammates like this kid did http://jg-tc.com/sports/eastern/arti...cc4c03286.html They don't give our guys much credit at all. Strick it to them by 30 in Brookings.

Laser, the one doing the calling out, was a first team all conference pick in the OVC last year. He was pretty clearly frustrated, and was held to just ten points by Clint and Garrett. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: at our level, in our conference, it is more important to have big, athletic guards than a true post.

watched the game, and wished i would have seen more movement toward the basket, or even creating your own inside opportunity by just taking it to the hoop. the had some nice rebounds around the basket..... its just a good thing they were hitting shots from the outside... was great to see good defense and that they took care of the ball on "O".

I recall the exact same weekend last year and very similar result against Wyoming and I went way overboard with confidence saying every doubleheader home game was going to be a sellout.

I'm going to ease into confidence this year. But it's always good to see the men win on the road after the road pains of the past.

I feel the same way. The Wyo win was big though and not expected. Its a slow process but we are making progress.

the one difference I see this year compared to last is Wyoming just wasn't that good, EIU has a lot of returners from a good team last year. The defense is what impressed me, we shut them down.

Maybe picky, and an easy thing to do, but we need to remember it's Griffin this year. And he is tough on defense and a battler on offense. Nice to still have a Callahan on the team (for those who watched the Iowa game on TV, the Callahan's were in the first row right behind our team.

Dang, I can't believe I typed it wrong. Thanks for the correction. I know I was thinking Griffin as I typed.

If you haven't watched the Dale Moss Youtube production about Iowa pre-game, do so. One short take shows the team reviewing EIU game film and Coach Nagy saying that even though Grif had only two points, he may have been the MVP of the game for the Jackrabbits.

This is what a coach sees that most Experts (fans) don't. I include myself in the fan category.

My memory is a little fuzzy, but was Eastern Illinois one of the schools Nagy interviewed with back in our DII days? I swear there was some Illinois school.

Exactly right. I am very excited and the one thing we know is that this team has a lot of talented pieces. They will be fun to watch, but I am sure there will be inconsistency and some times of trouble this year.

Now that I have said that, I'm pumped to follow this team and am looking at the excellent homestand starting tommorrow night for a couple of drives up to Brookings to watch these guys play.
