    Re: Eastern Illinois game...

Sorry about the lack of updates but everytime I do it takes me forever to get back to game. But boy, we look VERY VERY good. Only negative might be the play of our bigs.

    We have 10 3's to their 1. WE...CAN...SHOOT!

They are going to have to start fouling soon, need to make our FT's. Just gave them 3 open 3's and they missed them all.

Need to close them out, they are in the double bonus not sure where we are at the bonus.

62-47 Jacks with about 4:20 to play.

Would like to see us get some more points here rather than let them creep back in it.

Great performance for the first game on the road. Could have shot a little better at the line but defensive effort and hustle has been great. Shot the 3 pretty well.

They hit a late 3, going to have to foul us every possession now or we turn it over or they just let it end. 67-52 SDSU.

Couple of late 3's by them makes it look closer than it was. Jacks with what I'll call an impressive win 67-55.

Great, great news...I'd say a very nice night of basketball for SDSU. Women win by 39 while looking very good. Men win a big game on the road against a team to finish very high in their conference!

Impressive win. Gave up 25 points in the 2nd half - 6 in the last minute.

Good effort. Hope I see that when I go down to Iowa City Sunday.

If we can shoot, rebound, and defend like we did tonight as well as hit our free throws, this team will be very, very hard to beat.

I hope Sargent doesn't wear down before the Summit tourney. The team leaned on him pretty hard in several aspects of the game.

Nice road win for the men. The EIU sports info department wrote it up as follows:

Charleston, IL--Jeremy Granger was one of four Panthers to score in double-figure with 16 points, but the Eastern Illinois men’s basketball squad dropped a 67-55 home contest to South Dakota State on Friday night to open the 2011 basketball season.

The Panthers return to action on Sunday with a 2 pm (CST) road game at Ball State.

EIU (0-1) finished the game by shooting 37%, with just one three-pointer. Ten of SDSU’s 22 total shots were of the three-point variety as they finished the night shooting 39%.

                            ...

In other team stats, EIU won the rebound game with a 39-to-38 advantage, yet had 13 turnovers as SDSU took advantage and scored 15 points off Panther miscues.

Coach Nagy's pleased....some comments from the official story on GoJacks.com:

"Our veteran kids played great. If we can get that kind of production out of our older kids we will be a hard team to beat," head coach Scott Nagy said after the win. "I was really pleased with the effort our kids gave on the defensive end. It's what won the game for us."
Clint Sargent led the Jacks with 19 points in the win, Dale Moss added 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while Nate Wolters rounded out the Jacks double figure scorers with 11 points.
SDSU struggled from the field overall, shooting just 38.6 percent from the floor on 22-of 57 shooting, but made up for it with a 10-for-20 night from three-point range, which made the difference in the game.

listened to some of the game and all of the post game. Sounded like Feigen, Dykstra and Heemstra did really good on the defensive end against their bigs. Also though the team only has 12 players, they all can play so its not as thin of team as it appears.

Chad White hit some big shots, Wolters was big early but kinda cooled off in the second half. Clint and Dale were really good. Carlson was able to come in and run the point when Nate got into foul trouble.

the 3's were big but was more impressed with the free-throws and the defense.
