  • Another 20 loss season??

I was holding off making prediction hoping that we would add at least one more veteran (JC or four year transfer). I think anyone not looking through rose colored glasses has to see a 20 loss season in the cards. Its almost impossible to win win freshmen posts. Sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news.

If agreeing with you means you won't be attending any Jackrabbit games or posting during the basketball season...then a 20 loss season it is!!

This is so demonstrably untrue that it hardly bears a response, but unanswered claims too often become "truth" these days.
      - Oakland won 17 games and beat then-No. 23 Oregon with freshman Keith Benson in post.
      - Kentucky went 32-2 last year with a freshman in post.
      - Kevin Love made the All-PAC team as a freshman and his UCLA team won the PAC 10 tournament.
      - Georgetown won 17 games with Greg Monroe in post..
      Do we need to continue???

You are not annoying but your posts are. There, it wasn't a personal attack so the moderators won't get on me.

We have one of the best pg in the league in my opinion as a soph, we have one of the best 3 pt shooters in the league. We have more athletic ability then we ever have before. Yes we are young but we have only a few upper classmen. We can start a winning tradition now, the last few years the players were always on losing teams, now we can start fresh and not worry about the negative mindset that may have been with the players of teams past.

No one in the league looks unbeatable this year. I expect a few road losses and a few home losses, but 20 losses seems a bit much.

If getting to 20 loses is because we have young post players is not a good reason. the Iowa boys will be a step up in every area over AC and Engan were. Not experince, but in every other catagory IMO.

We have talented underclassmen, but give me ANY examples were a team dominated by such on THIS level are anything but fodder. My predictions have regrettably more accurate than those who keep saying "just wait, we're young. In a couple of years ...". Blah, blah, blah. Broken record.

All of those other posts are/were pro prospects. I think Dykstra and Heemstra will be good, but they aren't pro prospects.

I don't know how we'll do this season, but I am optimistic.

                  2007 10th place
                  2008 7th place

Lets see we graduate three seniors and four other vets transfer/quit. Boy that bodes well for this year. Nagy has proven he can recuit talented players. His act though wears thin and has proven over and over again guys dont want to play for him. THAT is a fact. He must go and we must start over. I said the contrary in the spring but that was before the mass exodus.

Good post. I could not give you rep points cause they need to be spread around.

+6 in wins in 2 years while playing a tougher schedule.

Last year, the Jacks played Purdue, BC, Nevada, Minnesota for non-conference.

2007-2008, they played Minnesota. Most other teams were around 500 or below for non-conference.

                      No improvement there.

2 of those veterans saw that their playing time was going to dwindle from the 5 minutes a game they were getting. I honestly cringed when I saw Cassaday and Rader in the game.

Cordova decided SDSU didn't need his effort every game last year. Hard to argue playing him if he isn't gonna help the team out. Two years ago, Cordova had good offensive production, but probably gave up more points than he scored.

Palarca had a nice season but also saw that there was a true freshman logging more minutes and more production than he had last year. Wolters minutes will go up, Palarca's will go down - Palarca decided he didn't want to compete for it.

Would Palarca and Cordova help us this year? Possibly, but one in a more limited role that he chose not to accept and another would need to give effort every night, something he hadn't done in 3 years.

I don't know about *you*, but at the college *I* went to, *facts* require *proof*.

                          Where is your proof?

Williams & Callahan played through pain for Nagy. Cordova played through pain for Nagy and has said that he considers Nagy 'a father'.

Rader & Cassaday saw Heemstra, Dykstra, White and Fiegen ahead of them on the depth chart and knew exactly where they stood. Nagy plays deep, but you still don't want to be the 3rd guy in line for time at your spot.

you sure did, on March 7, in a thread entitled:
NAGY must ... Stay (for awhile)
"OK, not my usual message. But the team improved enough for Nagy to get a couple more years I figure. If no improvemen, then we should move on."
