I am sure that if he fits the system he is on the coach's radar. I will put my faith in our staff and not on all of our "professional" opinions. Although, it is a great way to pass the time.
I'm sure Mr. Sparks appreciates your on-going apology and justification tour for him backing out of his verbal committment to SDSU.

I sure he does. Just like I am sure that Mr. Dykstra appreciates the folks in Iowa that defend his decision.

I guess I am in the wrong for not assuming backing out of a verbal is a direct reflection on character or talent.

I would much rather talk about the guys we have coming in rather than the ones that aren't or weren't even recruited.

No you are not wrong for defending this young man. I was merely hinting to moving on and letting go of the Sparks name since he did change his mind, which he does have that right. Making chippy remarks about a change in mind does not help anyone. We live in a day of constant change and names quickly get away for the public. How many people remember the details surrounding Chandia Levy? A drastic switch in subject matter, but my point is made by a mention of her name.

Though we might have depth at RB, I think we should still be trying to talk to Shivers. He is too good of an athlete to pass up IMO. If he wants a good education then SDSU will be a good fit for him.

Verbals are non-binding contracts. I don't see what the big deal is that he changed his mind. Teenagers do it all the time.
Just for clarity purposes, Sparks was not offered a Full by UND. I was told he was offered slightly more than SDSU offered, which tells me it was probably around 75% or so. With the familiy ties all it took was slightly more money.

It really doesn't matter anymore but it was definitely not a Full.

P.S. - I absolutely love your 2011 schedule. That is an extremely tough and attractive schedule. Nice job by your AD.

My stance on the matter doesn't change, I look forward to a young man in a Jackrabbit uniform crushing him on the field.

ditto for me, but not sure SDSU will ever get the chance. Is there a return game to Grand Forks planned?

Tough appears to be our mantra for scheduling

It was a 1 for 1 with a return to GF in 2013. No idea if we would buy out of that or not. I suppose we might if we can get a home game instead.

Not sure if you guys have seen this but AGS has an interesting thread regarding FCS recruiting. A group of people are actually trying to analyze every FCS class and I thought you might want to check it out. They are also looking for videos of every class so if you guys have some video highlights of your recruits I'm sure they'd appreciate it...

                      Here is the main thread...

Wow that is some in-depth stuff! I really doubt how accurate it's going to be but it's worth a shot. With the new digital world everything like this gets easier I suppose to find information on everyone.

I put up the press release from the school. It has everything they're gonna want. Here's the link for everyone: http://www.gojacks.com/ViewArticle.d...B_OEM_ID=15000

Also, I added the press release on the late sign from FloridaL http://www.gojacks.com/ViewArticle.d...B_OEM_ID=15000

We'll have to see what they come up with.

Shaquil Barrett - 6'1" 230 - Freshman Linebacker from Boys Town here in Omaha.

This year he led UNO with 82 total tackles.

                              Other statistics....
                              11.5 Tackles for Loss
                              8.5 Sacks
                              3 Forced Fumbles
                              2 Blocked Kicks
2 time defensive player of the week for his conference.

Sounds like a gamer....I would think he could provide some help at the linebacker ranks with Domino leaving.

The only coach I saw that could maybe fill former LB coach Mennenga's spot is Taiwo Onatolu. If his name sounds familiar, his brother is a back-up LB for the Vikings.

He doesn't have a ton of experience so there may be more veteran coaches applying.
