I went over to the ORU board awhile back. I can honestly say I was well behaved. I irked a few for my "chamber of commerce" speach about SDSU and those few treated me horrible. Several other ORU posters came to my defense. I was shocked how some fans of a Christian school treated me. They can now see that I am over just to talk about Summit basketball, so I am in good standing. But there are still a couple who think they have to treat me bad simply b/c I follow another team. In no way do I want sdsufans.com to be like that.

I hope you are right, but Montana looks to be a very very good program and they are as well coached as is SDSU and SIU. I dont know where SDSU got the 10 Montana videos but after watching the Bobby Hauck press conference, I suspect there was a SDSU-Montana exchange recently but before the playoff announcement. Hauck hints about watch SDSU and knowing all the current players so no doubt he has 10 SDSU videos in his possession.

Montana isn't the only team in the Big Sky, and they weren't solely responsible for you guys not getting in the Big Sky. It was crappy to welch on the game scheduling, but I truly think that most teams in Montana's situation would do the same. I don't think that is really an indictment of Montanas integrity but rather just a sound business decision. College football is big business. If any AD didn't approach it as such, that AD wouldn't have a job.

I had my heart set on the Big Sky and I was real distraught when we were turned down. But, at the same time, I couldn't believe we were accepted into the MVC and would choose that 7 days a week over the Big Sky. The Summit as well. The Big Sky took UNC....uh....ha!

Also, if you guys knew all along you would back out of the 1-and-1 agreement, then I think that is shady. And there is little proof otherwise. Whatev, it is what it is. I just think teams in the future will learn from our mistake.

I regret the comment that you quoted as I made that comment after reading some of the bull crap your fellow fans have been posting on this board about how great your program is and it reminded me of Bisonville a few years back. U of Montana, I am sure it is a very excellent program and I have a higher opinion of Bobby Hauck now after seeing the Video of his press conference at the Missoula paper website. No doubt he is a very good coach, and I have no knowledge of the off campus incidents involving football players at U Of Montanta so no trash from me about that stuff.

With more cool and collected recall, I do remember that there were hints that the two Montana presidents were pulling for SDSU and NDSU to get in. I would suspect that most of the opposition to SDSU and NDSU came from Northern Arizona, Weber, EWU and Portland State as travel for several team sports would have put a burden on everyone.
Also NDSU president Chapman had come from Montana State so I thought that might help and it probably did with the Montana schools and Idaho State, but the others!! Who knows?
I myself was totally surprised that UNC was picked over NDSU and SDSU. But geography was on their side. UNC is about in the same boat as UNA and SUU financially so I dont think down the road that UNC was the right choice down the road.

I dont have to bring up Cal State Northridge as you guys thought you could tap into the LA Media market with this gem. I guess learned a lesson there too. I lived in Southern California and could about guess what he following Northridge has. If my memory serves me right, they were expelled from the Big Sky, because of crappy facilities and a corrupt football program.

I think SDSU and NDSU did fine the right place in terms of football in the Missouri Valley Football conference and now we are taking on the Big Sky in the playoffs, which probably the way it was orginally intended. SDSU has gained respect in both the Summit and MVFC so I am happy and glad the Big Sky left us behind.

When SDSU played Montana in 1988 and 1993 I attended both games, and have not been back since so apparently the size of your staduim as nearly doubled since that time and with filled with every game, I understand why Montana savors home game its about $$$ and I have had a latent interest in sports administration so clearly understand the financial part of college sports. If as everyone says, the back out clause was in the contract, then that was risk SDSU and USD both took in making contracts with Montana and Montana State for home and home. No longer does that rent space in my mind, but I sense a looking down your nose at the Dakotas by Montana schools and that bothers me somewhat, but a few SDSU wins over both Montana schools will change that a great deal. Unfortunately too much emphasis is on winning in college sports in order to gain respect. Following the rules seems to be secondary and I am making those comments in a general fashion without any particular school in mind.

Yes, Stig and Hauck exchanged game films prior to the final game of the season, because they knew there would be a good chance they'd see each other in the first round. I thought that was a smart and classy move on the part of both organziations.

A few years back, the Griz played UNI in the first round and UNI refused to exchange game films at ALL. Turned out not only to be a classless decision, but also a terrible one for them: The Griz rolled them like 38-0 and that included taking their foot off the accelerator early in the 2nd half.

Here's a to great game on Saturday! Man, I love the playoffs!!

I would be curious what role Idaho State had in keeping us out of the Big Sky Conference. Not to get into conspiracy theories or smack but I would point out a few simple facts. The Idaho State President was a man named Dr. Richard Bowen. He was president there from 1985 to 2005. His previous experience was at a school called the University of South Dakota (yes that place) from 1968 to 1976. You can read about him here:

                          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_L._Bowen

I don't know what role he played but it is interesting that the former President of USD and as the then President of Idaho State he would have had a vote and discussion inside the meetings where SDSU was denied entrance to the Big Sky.

Once again, I dont' know what role he played but I dont' remember him publicly talking about his knowledge of SDSU/NDSU and how they would be a good fit for the Big Sky. I think he could have helped more.

That being said, I think the MVC/Summit are better fits for us and that has helped make for a successful transition.
