The fact is I've made some great friends in the stands being a season ticket holder for the first time has been a lot of fun. If you asked the people around me if I was screaming at them and threatening them to get up and cheer they would think you were crazy. Of course I didn't scream for anyone to stand up. I was yelling for us as Jackrabbit fans to make some noise on big plays. That is all I was saying. Again, I apologize for my wording I'm a really good person, I swear to you and I love my grandma and love all my elders. lol I even opened up a door for an elderly man that was walking with a cane at Lewis the other day. A warning to all posters... be careful how you say things JimmyJack will disect your post and jump all over you if he doesn't like what he hears.
Geez, I wrong but yet I am right. Thats what I am hearing here. If you had stopped with the apology, I for one would have been okay and but when you are warning others, you are still trying to justify your orignal post.

Re: Raasch's Take on Jacks Fans.

OK, deep breath, everybody. I think we are all on roughly the same page. We want better, louder support without imposing on others be they old, young, inexperienced, not feeling well, hobbled with an injury (fans with injuries...ha!), etc. Sometimes overstatments are made. I think that's all we have here. Old farts means different things to different people. To some, I would bet, it means just about anybody out of college. To others, it means people in their 60s or even older. I would like to think that if I sat in front of somebody who was 75 years old, I would be respectful of that while still being very supportive. It's a fine line. But I thought yesterday's crowd was good...vocal and willing to stand at key moments. Standing on a big third down shouldn't be asking too much of most of us, but there will be some people who just can't. And we have to accomodate those folks the best we can, too. Well some of us (adults) would like to see more cheering, I think most of us will be happy to let the students stand the entire game while we take it a bit easier.
Grumbling along and embracing my role. If I didn't care, I wouldn't care. Go Jacks!

Come one everyone...we won the game, we had good cheering and the student section stayed till the end of the game. If you want my definition of "old fart", that would have been me, downtown till 1:30 am on Friday night trying to stay with bunch of young bucks, staying with them beer for beer.

Listened to about 3/4ths of the game on the radio and the crowd sounded great pretty much the whole time. Love Imming and Merriman too, they call a great game.

Just have to defend my turf...Section F, Rows 28 (mine) and above, were on their feet cheering EVERY UNI third down (and we do it all the time). Most times, I'm the one standing who gets Sections G and H and etc. going. The effort is working its way down some more rows below us, but please remember that this is the section of all the long-time season ticket holders who have been consistent with their support for many years, but many of whom aren't going to (be able) to jump up very often for third down cheers. Yeh...I'm an OF, but still able to holler with the best of them...but others aren't as fortunate. But their hearts are in the right place. GO JACKS!!!

I thought the Hobo Day was as loud as any that I can remember. There was a lot of noise made on every big play that UNI had the ball.

Don't really care who was standing or sitting. Just worried about the noise.

                Progress!!!

We need another 15k+ in the stands for SIU and we need as much if not more noise!!!

If you aren't at the SIU game at CAS on Nov. 7th than you just aren't that big a Jackrabbit fan. It isn't anything to be ashamed of its just the way it is. So you live several states away, make the trip or change jobs and move closer. You had plans. Change them.

I made a mistake and missed the Beef Bowl game for a previous engagement. I'm not making that mistake again. I changed my flight and will be leaving a day later for San Diego. I'm not missing the SIU game for one day of meetings.

If we take care of Youngstown, I think an all time attendance record will be set for a November game on November 7th. It could be 10k plus and maybe more. There is always excitement about winning programs. We have not had our Indian Summers yet so hopefully that will happen the week after halloween. May the Rain Gods be destroyed by Indian Summer.

When SDSU wins the SIU game, Jacks should be bidding to host a play-off game. A big part of that bid, is how many will attend. Jacks need to demonstrate that their smash-mouth football team will attract 13K for the game the Sat after Thanksgiving. Nothing will make that case better than 13-15K for the SIU game.

BTW, record attendance for Coughlin was set in Nov. 2007 vs Bison. Time for the Jacks fans to show that they can stuff Coughlin for a non rival, but conference title game.

Trying not to look too far ahead, but IF we would host a palyoff game in Btown on Saturday after Thanksgiving, I could head to Minneapolis after the game and watch my Bears v. Vikes. My dear wife gave me tickets to the game for my birthday this weekend while we were in Brookings for Hobo Day. You can't find a woman much better than that!!!

Bye gosh I had completely forgotten about the 2007 NDSU game being in the month of November. Thats going to be a tough record to break. The SIU game Nov 7 could be the second most attended game in November next to the 2007 NDSU game record setting game.
