"The purpose of life is not to be happy - but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all."
-Leo Rosten
GSU has some nice looking receivers. Neither team seems very physical. GSU is very athletic, though. Very little running. Lots of short passes to the outside from GSU. Trying to get those athletic receivers some space to run.
Just reviewing GSU's roster again. They really do have almost no juniors or seniors. What's up with that? Were there a lot of departures during the dark days of the prior coach?
It also makes me wonder how they'll react to such a long road trip and to facing a relatively senior-heavy team.
JJ:
Hey, this is a rebuilding year for our Eagles... We should be loaded next year, or even better the following year, but the Coach has to play the folks he has available, and you folks can expect to see a whole pile of freshmen and soph's playing for our Eagles next Saturday night.
We were fortunate to win tonight, and I've often heard it said that a football team makes the most improvement between the first and 2nd game of the season, so maybe our young folks can offer the Jackrabbits a little competition next week.
I'm glad your Jacks had this week off, and I'm glad we are in different conferences.. Having one game under our teams belt just might give us a bit of seasoning we need, and we need LOTS of seasoning.
I was pleased with our teams defense today. It seems we have some hard hitters this year, whereas last season that was lacking.
Just hope we have a good contest next week, and both our teams escape with no serious injuries.

Wow. In a year or two, when all of those young players have some experience, I fully expect GSU will be back in contention for a national title.
GSU gave up 69 yards on a fake punt (4th down) and a 4th and a foot, where the QB sneaked in and then backed out and ran around the end for a TD. On 1st, 2nd and 3rd downs, GSU's D gave up 140 yards rushing and 110 yards passing. The 4th down containment issues will be fixed before Saturday.
GSU's D is much better than it was the last time the Jacks played the Eagles - bigger up front and much, much more speed at the LB and DB slots.

Thanks straightshooter. Good context. I would guess we're a stronger running team than Albany.
Did you guys have a bunch of players leave or something? I'm still trying to figure out how you get 78 freshmen and sophomores on a team unless it's the result of a lot of players leaving.
Looking forward to our game, I did not know you guys started the season with a bye, this might be the only thing that gives me hope. My honest opinion, we are pretty evenly matched overall and I think 2 things matter, who has the ball last, and turnovers.
GSU's second game (they always say the most improvement happens between the first and second games)
SDSU's first game
GSU's youth
SDSU's experience
GSU's first road trip
SDSU about .800 at home since move up
GSU's talented skill position players
SDSU's defensive strength
GSU's defensive front 7
SDSU's talented RB Kyle Minett
No shortage of respect up here for GSU's program. In fact there's a lot of gratitude since GSU was willing to schedule us right away when we moved up. That meant a lot to SDSU and I would dare say that most SDSU fans are big GSU fans when we're not playing.
Should be a good crowd (13,000+ is my guess) and a nice night (early forecasts are 60s and fair). I can't wait.
