In his comments, Stig said no to going out and hiring an interim coach. Howevere, we all know that circumstances can change and viewpoints can change accordingly. I would think it would have to be a very good fit for this to happen.

I'm guessing the insider coaches grapevine is active on this one. It's entirely possible that somebody good will emerge in short order. I know of one quality QB coach who has been in touch with SDSU.

I think it would be great if the retired father of the current head coach of Southwest Minnesota State (and former SDSU OC) jumped out of retirement for one season to help out. Just my personal opinion and by no means indication of what will happen nor trying to start any rumors.

We are talking about Lyle Eidness here. Going back aways he got Morningside going with a shot gun offense. Lyle would be a possiblity. I think he could make sense out of play book quicker than most folks and I think he would not likely have an ego problem with other coaches and players. I believe he is about my age, so no doubt would like a temporty job only.

I like the suggestion that Catch em put forth as more likely than the one I am going to put out there but what the heck, if you can't speculate here where can ya?

Where is Gerry Gdowski these days? Or potentially other former Nebraska QB's that may be looking for a quick fix? Considering there are some connections on the staff current and in the past is there something possibly there?

Gerry is still at Ohio University with former Husker Coach Frank Solich.

Gerry would be a class choice, but I don't think we could pull him away from Ohio U. I think we need a temporary until next season and thats what I would look for unless, someone who fits our program is out there and hungry for coaching work.

Gerry is very happy in Ohio. He applied for the head job when Daly retired, don't think he'd come back as a QB coach for Stig. (I know pure speculation EQ, just had to throw that out there).

Yes, I was hinting at Lyle. I'm sure he's happy being retired (finally, again), but he would make a good temporary fix IMO.

As long as we're speculating here, I heard Brett Favre was interested. He's not quite ready to retire, he's not quite ready to play, so maybe coaching would be a perfect holding place between the two. Someone give him a call.

Please don't call Brett unless you are a licensed counselor, he is very anguished at the moment.

Coach Moore is taking over as the QB's coach. Not sure how everything else will trickle down from there but the RB's and TE's used to be with the Oline most of the time anyways. It actually works pretty well in the run game and blitz pick up cause it puts everyone on the same page. It just makes more work for Coach Meadows and for those of you who don't realize how much time he puts into SDSU football allready, that's quite the commitment

Yes I know Luke has been a big part of our success and I am sure he puts in many hours and will do so again. It seems like he and the QB coach have been calling plays together or that is what I gather from Coach Stig. It shame there is more burden for the others to bare, but I am thinking they will get the job done.

Yeah a few years back, they took on titles as run game coordinator and pass game cordinator. That was when it was Meadows and Wilks, not real sure what the situation was last year.

I would think an interim coach would be very appropriate. If its a recently retired coach it would appear to be a good fit. Not necessarily to step right in and fill the spot of QB coach. But to do the small but important duties to free up time for the full time coaching staff. None of our Coach's have enough free time to fill the void left by the QB coach leaving. The hours these folks work is already rediculous.
