Re: 2009 Recruiting Class
Hey SDSU fans.....
I'm from the area where Eric Koehlmoos grew up and played his high school ball. It's been a treat to watch him lead Pierce to a couple of state titles. He is definitely a legitimate Division I-A caliber athlete. Pierce produced Nebraska tight end Matt Herian a few years ago, and Koehlmoos is every bit the athlete that Herian was. I'm a Nebraska fan, but I'll keep tabs on you guys now and follow Eric's career at SDSU. You got a special one here.
Good luck next year!

The fact that NDSU signed no athletes from South Dakota is significant. It wasn't that long ago that they raided some of the best talent. The fact that young men are looking this way says a lot about the program that Coach Stig has created.
OR there wasnt 1 kid from your state good enough to play at NDSU.
NDSU had 10 kids with FBS solid offers.

BTW: I'll be looking forward to August's news of clearinghouse problems... Hopefully you guys don't have any, but, well, last year kind of set a bad precedent, didn't it?

Just smacking, actually I think signing day is great for every kid that gets to put his name on a NLI. Different schools have different needs, etc. but what is really special is that every one of those kids gets to fulfill what has been a life goal. I can not imagine how proud their parents, family and friends must be. Congrats to them all!

I am not going to go through this with you though and determine all the offers we both had to players in SD etc., because its exhausting and a waste of time. We are very pleased with our class, as you are with yours obviously. Just so you remember though, the Dakota Marker has spent its last two years where it belongs. Recruiting in SD must be fine.

A quick breakdown of how South Dakota athletes who are going D1 this year.
SDSU signed Jake Weiss who was offered by NDSU and who also received interest from IA.
SDSU signed OL Alex Parker who had an offer from Iowa State.
SDSU signed DT Chase Douglas who had interest form the Goph's and Iowa Schools.
USD signed WR Will Powell who had an offer from UNI.
UNI signed DB Phil Wright.
Others
USD
Earv Archambeau, RB
Kyle Chicos, QB
Quintin McMartin, TE, Sioux Falls
Mike Pharis, DL
SDSU
Mason Winterboer, RB
UND
Darren DeNeui TE/DE
Matt Field O-Line
So that makes 12 SD kids going DI and I probably missed a couple.

Check out the signing day blog update from the Yankton Daily Press. It includes most of the area schools and info/links regarding their respective classes. There is a poll on there asking about who had the better class. Did some reading, and although I think our friends to the south had a pretty good class, SDSU had a better one. I voted for SDSU.

Re: 2009 Recruiting Class
I've included a link to the list from www.gojacks.com within the first post as well. That certainly makes it official.
This is always a fun day to end the football recruiting. We likely won't see the full potential of this class for a couple of years but I like what I see on paper!
Thanks again to everyone who made updates, corrections & deletions to our list! I tried to spread as much love as I could whenever one came in!
