  • I think Stig underestimated the "known" coaches in his Happy Hour interview.

I'm curious if we're witnessing former coaches rallying to new regime to ensure continued program excellence

I think I'm surprised with him keeping the same position while at UCD (granted he only had it for a year). Isn't Special Teams Coordinator our newest coaching position? Where does it rank in the coaching hierarchy? Jackson has at least one young son according to his UCD page. He was at $100k in '23 before his most recent promotion, so I assume he's at least around $108k+ now. If we were around $115k for our OC and DC, I can't imagine he'll be getting more than $90k here.
Is it safe to assume that everytime that we have to go through this process that salaries are going to go up ? Especially when we are not promoting from within.

        I would hope so.

This D2 Forum said Eck was at $94k (around '21 so data is either from that year or before) and Bergstrom made $84.8 in 2021. We fast forward a few years and here's the MVFC pay list for HC/Coordinators this past year. Stig was $306 in '21 and '22. Rogers was 310 in '24 from Zimmer.

Doesn't take much to continue to make the salaries a little bit more competitive with some of the other top coordinator salaries (Rohel was 123k before he went off, UNI OC was at 123k. USD DC at around 120k).

        • Appears Bergstrom has resigned at Winona and will be DC.

          • Away from computer but it's Zimmer official on bergie and eids.
Some random unafilliated guy with like 400 follows who I guess likes that division football
broke bergie news and then it was reposted from there. Another guy claimed he drove Winona State into the dirt and bailed

I can't believe there's anyone that cares about Winona football.

This will be what the trash talk will be like from other fan bases. Three coaches who couldn't cut it hoping to reinvigorate careers

                • SDSU Football page announced 3 coaches on Offense Eids, Benedetto, and Cooper

A student intern may have revealed the other two coaches in his series of follows of everyone on the staff or it could just be related to the CC player yesterday. They're both Iowa CC coaches Mike Blackbourn (x-Jack from the imager) and Aaron Terry DLine/recruiting Iowa Western CC

                  • Great additions to Dan Jackson's staff, I'd say. Good experience and, hopefully, good men. Eidsness, Bergstrom and I. Jackson were all mentioned as possible head coaching prospects in stories immediately after Rogers cashed out and fled the state, obviously with plenty of staff, roster and recruiting information.

                    • Very excited about Jackson, Eidsness, and Bergstrom. Love seeing how they are keeping recruiting class together and limiting what is going to WSU. Will be lots of talent available in portal.

Don't enjoy having to go through this! Also, don't rule out the fact that we could get better!!!

So you're not a wild hare?

I'm excited by the hires, provided we don't revisit what occurred when Bergstrom was co-DC.

                        • Who was the DC back when our D-lineman would line up a yard or so off of the line of scrimmage?

                          • Eidness had Ranek, Zenner, Sumner, Christian, Wineki, Godert, his track record at sdsu is pretty good.

Im more worried about our defense. Thats what has grown over the last 5 years. Offense was always good. But depth on D was what got us to the championships. Can Jackson get the defense to that elite level is the question. I'm not doubting that he can, just I worry that more then anything on offense.

O line and D line are what set apart contenders and pretenders. Watch big sky. offense isn't the issue, defense is. The best 4 teams had the best depth and talent on the lines. After that it's really game plan and schemes that get you across at the end.

                              This!

O will be fine. Eidsness beat NDSU a few times with his offense when they were clearly the better team. Defense is what has to stay as the identity of the team. Disciplined, sound, and physical.

O line could still be good. Need to keep Willenbring and Bakken.

                                Bakken's gone.
