in the postgame interview, Jimmy said he believes the Jacks have best point differential in the country. true? would that be a big factor in overall seeding?

I can say if you look at the MVFC Co Champs and the differential in the games among the three teams, Bison come out on top with a +3 total, Jacks second at -1 (would have been zero if they are allowed to kick the extra point in OT vs usd), usd comes in 3rd at -2

I see a few predictions already have MSU at the 1 seed. understandable, but I do not think that is a guarantee

I think the committee will put the top 4 seeds MSU, SDSU, NDSU, then USD.

MSU is undefeated in FCS. USD has the fewest FCS wins and only 1 ranked win. SDSU and NDSU are a toss-up. NDSU has a the "good" loss vs UC. SDSU has the better finish, better SOS and better rankings with Massey and Sagarin. I think the nod for 2 seed will go to SDSU. UCD is a long shot for a top 4 seed but would need to blow out SACSt, and they aren't.

This is the metric that I fear.

      NDSU 10 FCS wins
      SDSU 9 FCS wins
      USD 8 FCS wins

There are other metrics though but this is why we should never play D2 teams. NDSU refuses to do it anymore.

MSU is undefeated and the only one of the top 4 with an FBS win. They are a lock for # 1.

Being facisous here. If you want a strategy to assure a top seed pay FBS patsies to come to Brookings. Start the season with UMass, Kent St and Kenesaw St. Is MoSt available 9/6/25? Cancel the MSU game and bring in MoSt. An FBS win would count more.

yes playing Augie was idiotic!! it is an absolutely NO WIN scenario for the Jacks!! that said they were probably a LOT better competition than one of our common OOC opponents, Drake. final point being Augie gave us good competition, but we gain absolutely nothing by playing them

If Augie didn’t choke against Mankato today in the playoffs I’d try and argue that beating Augie is better than beating any Pioneer team, but alas Augie cannot perform in the playoffs.

Augie may be a better team, but the playoff committee looks at D1 wins.

Playing Augie was dumb. Never do it again.

I'd be interested in learning if teams share details on attempts made to schedule non-DII opponents.

Didn't we have a cancelation resulting in Augie getting scheduled?

                              My top 4 seeding:
1 - Montana State (unbeaten, duh)
2 - South Dakota State (highest Sagarin, best defense, offense really playing well now)
3 - South Dakota (Beat #4, took #2 to overtime)
4 - North Dakota State (Lost to #3, last-minute win vs. #2 at home was a long time ago in football time)
                              "I think we'll be OK"
