I am grateful for how Ryan Howlett did live. I think he'll do just fine as the new PA announcer. I only noticed a couple minor misattributed Angel vs. Amar references, and I think he added just the right amount of home cooking to entice fans to cheer in a couple instances.

Loved the intro before players came out with the song where the guy was just talking to start. I hope they use that all year long- gave me goose bumps!
New PA guy- going to take some getting used too.
Officials- was it just me or was all but the last penalty of the game a multiple minute discussion before finally announcing what it was? Why no announcement to the crowd after the review of the targetting?
Why wasn't Chase given the chance to be qb with 532 left in the game and up 3 scores?

New PA guy isn't Manzer but I did like his encouragement to the crowd. Especially on the east side, folks aren't so easily roused but being dutiful Dakotans, will get up when told.

Agree on the refs. If you threw a flag, make the call. It was terrible for game flow.

There was an announcement about the ejection. It was made during the promo stuff.

Early season angst here last year was discipline. Lots of PI stuff early in the season and teams tried all of last year to goad our guys. And we had discussions on here about Valley memo about penalizing Jacks 3-1 more than opponents.

Penalties must have been pretty even but started out favoring IW.

It wasn't just you. My parents and I were discussing this, and I heard another crew near us criticizing it as well.

Regarding Mason, we also wondered about that, but maybe the rationale was that Gronowski might need reps with Voorhees and Begeman if they plan to use a RB rotation like we haven't seen seen the Mengarelli Era.

One thing that the new PA guy needs to work on is not talking over the official when they are explaining a penalty call. Happened with the targeting call and a couple of others as well.

Jacks were down a couple starting safeties (Reeder & Huerter), so that might've influenced it.

I think it's worth noting that UIW had a trio of personal fouls themselves, so the Jacks definitely seemed more disciplined in that regard.

the real question is why they didn’t call their timeouts and make them run two more plays from the 1/2 yard line.
Rogers addressed this in postgame (approx 12:25 mark). His concern was that they'd just scored on a 69yd screen play, so stacking the box on a couple extra plays could leave outside defenders vulnerable to a similar play.

Rogers mentioned that Bock really wanted him to call timeout too. He also noted that Jacks stopped them on 3rd down to start 2nd half and got burned

Fair point, although I think at least one of them involved him mentioning a sponsor, and the ref essentially trying to "interrupt" midstream.

Anyone else irked by fans cheering rather loudly when the Jacks were on offense?

It will be interesting to see if the Ungulates try to use more tempo in Fargo.

Fun evening at the game. Defense looked off balance the first couple of UIW drives and then righted themselves. After halftime the D-line was getting much more pressure. Very nice to see. The running game was clicking. That will be difficult for other teams to deal with. I predict the Johnsons will break some good long runs this season. Wilde was impressive again, 10 targets, 10 catches. He is special. IMHO, this team has potential to be very good. I would like to see more of Chase. State will need him next season. I predict more field time for him next week.

UIW has talent, they will make some noise. I don't see them making the trip to Frisco sans running game. Go Jacks.

Where it could get interesting is if Montana or Montana State is forced to play at least one road playoff game, especially Montana. Not sure they'd win in San Antonio

The whole in-game production seemed out of synch. They tried to work in some sponsor stuff plus honoring the women's BB team during the review. Which probably wasn't a good decision when you don't know how long the review is going to take.

Plus Tucker Large was out for a good part of the game. Did they mention on the broadcast what the issue was with him ?
