  • 2024 Jimmy Rogers Show Episodes

First episode of Jimmy Rogers Show with:
    • Hunter Dustman as the player guest
    • Pat Cashmore as the asst. coach guest
A couple interesting items of note for OSU game are that Jacks will use coach-player headset/helmet comms (which Bobcats didn't in their FBS matchup). Jacks will also have multiple tablets on sideline to help with prior play analyses

Tyler and Jimmy Rogers had a more light-hearted Jimmy Rogers Show this time with both joking about Jacks' metrics of success, including striving for 8 TFLs/game and how calling TOs to end first half vs. UIW might have allowed Jacks to get 8 TFLs (they had seven).
    • Kevin Brenner was the player guest, and his story of his recruitment is worth a listen in its own right
    • Chris Meyers as the asst. coach guest

Tonight was the first time I have listened to the show. It was very entertaining. Brenner and coach Meyers were very funny and even coach Rogers had a few laughs. I will def listen again.
One hand points to campus...the other to the liquor store.

I tend to enjoy the episodes regardless, but this was definitely one of the best. I'm grateful they're available on-demand too.

I just happened upon it. I want to be able to use my phone and ear buds to listen to Tyler while in the stadium. I was looking for an app and a station that would work. Someone mentioned 98.1, but it turns out there are several 98.1 in the apps I looked at. Anybody know which one is the best one? One was called "the star" and looks/sounds like a religious channel. Another was the ESPN station out of SF.

I recommend the Varsity or Jackrabbit apps

              • Jacks recruiting Dallas Clarksean's son

              • Need for Jacks to create their own "energy" given Strawberry Stadium's capacity and recent attendance (7,408 and 5,387, respectively)
              • Their utilization of multiple QBs
              • Prioritization of rushing in their offense

Today's lineup consisted of Devin Cole, Jr. as the player guest and Jake Menage as the asst. coach guest.

                Items discussed include:
                • Strengths of the WR room
                • Devin Cole, Jr.'s recruitment and how it was actually his mom who was sold on SDSU rather than Devin who wasn't the biggest fan of the cold as a FL native
                • Why Jimmy Rogers wears the long-sleeved t-shirts (to catch sweat) and whether Tyler wears turtlenecks
                • The itinerary with the bye week
                • Stalbird moving to active roster for Saints
                • The importance of Chris Kracht to the team, even though Jimmy might not think it resonates directly with him
                • Jimmy's upcoming Sat. consisting of a Fri-Sat recruiting trip

The show always is very informative, but I like to tune in just to hear Jimmy laugh. He always looks so serious on the sidelines and in news conferences, and Tyler really seems to be able to bring out that other side from coach.

Yes, they definitely play off each other. Jimmy was the one who cracked wise about Tyler's turtleneckery

10/14 Jimmy Rogers Show guests included:
                      • CB Coach Mike Banks
                      • CB Dalys Beanum
                        • Discussed spelling of Dalys
                          • Dad wanted to name him after Dallas, but Mom wanted it to be spelled differently, so Dalys was the compromise
                        • Was also being recruited as a WR
                        • Said that visit from Coach Rogers was watching Dalys play basketball during game his HS was playing #1 team in NE
                        • He's two INTs from breaking Charlie Clarksean's career record
                        • Mentioned he also returned punts in HS

                          • Rogers stated that one of the dad's from a kid on an official visit commented on "heart" and team culture
                        • Reiterated the culture in the CB room from when Gales, etc. were here
                        • Van Tol initially being on offense but being moved to LB after Jacks ran a drill on player's physicality, and Van Tol was "knocking LB's shoulders" out
                        • Pelham's hang time on punt contributing to Penguin's muffing the punt
                        • Rogers mentioned Coach Banks coaching at ISU-R and alluded to them not having same support in Normal
                          • He didn't directly mention attendance there because he joked about Tyler being worried about Rogers knocking someone else's attendance, but Jimmy noted it wasn't his fault their attendance wasn't as good
                        • Tyler and Jimmy noted the importance of time on possession in winning Marker
                          • Last year was exception with Bison winning TOP by 36sec

10/21 Jimmy Rogers Show guests included Jesse Bobbit and Adam Bock. The B-surnamed linebackers both discussed the atmosphere during the Marker Game, with Bobbit mentioning that the Jacks didn't shrink in the face of the hostile Bison faithful and how it was important to focus on things the Jacks did well, while not losing sight of areas they could improve. Bobbit also mentioned appreciation for the home crowd, and how they can disrupt opponent's offense, when he and Tyler discussed this Saturday's game vs. 'Yotes
                              • Bobbit also mentioned that he and his wife are expecting a child early next year (they don't know if it'll be a son or daughter), and he and Tyler joked about how the Bobbit's dog might react to a "sibling"
                              • Bock mentioned upcoming wedding, how he'd like to play football until the "wheels fall off," and he and Tyler bantered about how Bock does Gronowski's mechanical engineering homework so Mark can focus on the upcoming gameplan
                              Coach Rogers:
                              • echoed Bobbit's perspective about Jacks doing some things right during Marker Game but that there were ample opportunities for improvement
                              • commented on how the ascendance of Lofton O'Groske was less about other other WRs being dinged up and more about Lofton (Rogers joked about Tyler calling O'Groske "Logan" earlier in the segment) performing well in practice against the first string defense as well as Lofton's size (he's essentially the size of the Janke's as a FR)
                              • Noted that the 'Yotes have explosive offense (WR, RBs, and TE) and that Bouman is among the best FCS "deep passing" QBs, so Jacks' secondary will need to have great coverage
                              • Emphasized how disruptive the home crowd can be on Sat., and how he and the players are looking forward to experiencing that
I was trying to multitask by listening to the show and finish a work project so that I don't have to worry about that on Sat., so I am certain some details were missed.
