FCS Championship Game - Montana

I've found after lurking on eGrizz that if you give Montana folks a paragraph they can talk themselves into anything. Things I've read
1) Montana will win because we only beat Montana St by 4.
2) Isiah and Amar would be middle of the pack in their RB room.
3) Even though they have never played in Frisco, it should be moved to a new venue. There is no way a site that has never sold out will be able to hold all of the Jizz fans that will over take the town.
4) Did you know they had 26,000 at their last playoff game?
5) We've never beat their team and don't know how.
6) Their defense is like nothing we've ever seen. A thee man line with non-stop blitzing.
7) They are playing with house money.
8) Lots of mentions of "Montana boys" on their rosters.

My thoughts;
1) It was early. We've gotten a lot better. I've noticed they don't play the compare the score game vs NDSU.
2) Dumb, just dumb.
3) We will see I guess. There is a limited number of tickets, but I'm guessing there will be seats left empty that are sitting on second hand sites and sitting on the dressers of local business folks that were given some and didn't go.
4) If attendance was really that important, they would be relevant more than once every decade.
5) irrelevant
6) You live by the blitz, you die by the blitz. It will take an experienced team to handle the blitzing, thankfully that is exactly what we have.
7) Meh, kind of seems like a cop out.
8) I don't care how many SD kids are on our roster as long as we are able to get any that we want.

I feel if the rain stays away, we pick up the blitz and don't kick to their returner we should be in a position to repeat. Montana is a good team and we are far from invincible, but it will take a Herculean effort on their part to win. Go Jacks!

1. The score comparison game is tricky. The bobcat game was more or less the first game of the season. First game with a brand new head coach and several new coaches. If that’s the total basis of their confidence they are in for a rude awakening.

2. Davis may be the best running back ever at SDSU. He’s that good. His numbers wont equal Zenner or Ranek but he’s also not had to carry near the load of those two. His combination of power, speed, and vision is really unlike anything I’ve seen.

Interesting ursine tidbit on tonight's "Jimmy Rogers Show" -- apparently Zoo Montana in Billings renamed a grizzly Junior as homage to Bergen.

Here's to hoping the Jacks trap Bergen and compel the bear to get his old name back and stabilize the poor thing's identity.

Saw a post that someone called the ticket office and was told that they would be arriving on late Tuesday or Wednesday.

Hello from GRIZ Nation, looking forward to a fantastic game. Don't pay attention to some of the fans on Egriz, we all have those crazy ones that think the game is not going to be a game. I guarantee most of us know this is an uphill battle and look forward to Sunday. You guys are stout and deserve all the recognition and accolades your team is getting. As a huge GRIZ fan I am tickled pink with how this season has turned out as after our September, there was NO one in GRIZ Nation thinking this team would do what they did.

Like you have all mentioned this game will be won in the trenches and on paper you guys definitely have the advantage. Our defense is definitely stout and our offense has the ability to definitely hang. If you are basing your opinions on the last 2 games on how our offense is then that is not a true picture of it as those were probably 2 of the worst games McDowell has played since he became the starter.

Here is to a great game, come win or lose Sunday this GRIZ fan will definitely be proud of how the team played this year.

That being said GO GRIZ and the GRIZ win a close one 24-21

Griz play close games that need special teams heroics just to get to overtime and they are “battle tested”. Jacks play a few close games and we are “frauds”, all the blowout wins were against garbage teams. It’s comical on the griz forum

Seriously, where will the griz have an advantage over us? DT Grubner is very good but he can’t play all 60 mins vs our line and not get wore down. Griz offense doesn’t scare me at all, our team speed is equal to or better than theirs and our guys have the size that they lack.

This will be just like most games this year, close first half, 17-10 I’m guessing, and we just wear them down and Davis/Johnson run for 7+ a carry in the second half. 41-13 final
