45-7. Not a strong finish going on by the Jacks.

First half looked good. 2nd half the 2nd and 3rd stringers looked like they werent real energetic but a bit sloppy. Mark looked great, amar looked great, wilde looks like he belongs. Hard to take to much away after the first game. Western O looked more athletic then i was expecting.

I'm curious how much of that was coaches not wanting to reveal much to MSU.

New additions to the stadium included national championship signage on the west side (all playoff/conference championship signage has been moved from below student section to west side) and south side scoreboard and a video board that was suspended on boom on NE side [east of Stiegelmeier Family Student Athlete Center (SFSAC)].

I wonder if the plan is to try to permanently mount the video board on the SFSAC?

I hope they get it mounted in some way. I like the screen in that area, but the boom holding it was sort of ghetto looking.

Not sure how the view was from the west side, but the flagpole obscured view from east side. I suppose the long-term vision could be to move the flagpole back and have the videoboard south of it. Otherwise, I suppose the roof of the SFSAC could be an option

I think it would be nice for the students to have a video board on that side so they don't have to constantly turn around to watch replays. Maybe it isn't that big of a deal, I've never sat in that area. I would think it would need to be bigger if that was the purpose. I like that they continue to try and make the game experience better.

Anybody know if they will bring the inflatable tunnel back out to run through or is it gone?

I was curious about that myself. I wondered if they didn't use that because of the covering they used to disguise the SFSAC.

The players initially exited from a door a bit to the west of the one where the tunnel is used, but the "usual" exit was used at halftime.

Guess I was expecting the inflatable to be back next week.

The Jacks played at least 75 players in that game. They played 3 QB's, 5 RB's and so on. Should the 3rd's (or soi) have preformed better, maybe, but they are really green.
They also didn't play a few players that are on the 2-deep so some of the people that players are even further down than that. (I still think they should have been a little better but didn't know for sure).

                              Thoughts-
Hard to complain too much about anything with the first units. I thought they looked mostly dominate as I expected. The teams seemed completely locked in and ready to go... it's going to be a fun year.

I'll nitpick just because. I did expect the first group of the D line to stand out a bit more but everything they threw was really quick anyway(I did seem like Hicks got a bit of pressure though). Sanders was just so good with disruption and qb pressure from the inside that despite our depth, there will be a bit of a drop off in my opinion. I also thought the transfer ISU Peterson missed a few plays in the run game so hopefully he shook the rust off.

In addition to the known commodities...Hawthorne, Tucker Large, Goering and Wilde jumped off the page for me guys who made a jump or who look like impact players from day 1. I liked that Mark hit his first deep ball of the season, I feel like the deep ball was off at the start of last season so it was nice to see that perfect throw over the top.
Back up qbs took some needed reps as I don't think either would be ready to be the guy yet if needed. But wow, that throw that Mason to the far sideline was a rocket. He obviously has some arm talent if he can work on his accuracy and keep developing.

Seemed like last year early in the season, there was always one long deep pass allowed so I was happy with the safety play all around. I thought Gales was a step slow last night and didn't have his best game. No doubt, he will play better moving forward. I think he was the one that got a hand ball that set up the first pick 6 though.

Ready for week 2. Go Jacks

I'm a little concerned about injuries to key players. Adam Bock didn't play, apparently because he reinjured his lower leg, and he is out indefinitely. Also, I don't think Jadon Janke played. He spent the game on the sideline. I don't know what his problem might be. Hopefully it's nothing serious.
