He has to have the top career winning percentage for every QB who has started at least one season worth of games too. He has lost two games in his career, both on the road to an fcs playoff team and a defending big 10 division winner

maybe they count the SHSU game as a loss on his record but i dont. He certainly isnt perfect he does make and has made some mistakes, but with only the rarest exceptions he has ALWAYS made the plays that needed to be made in order to win

i think the O line continues to get better, dont ya think? seem to be some inconsistency that remains but over the big picture of a whole game, i would say they are getting it done. also ONLY ONE false start today

IDK maybe i am not even remembering the timing correctly

but either way he has ALWAYS been aggressive. i am willing to give him a couple mistakes a year because i dont want him to start wondering about when and if he should try to make a play, OBVIOUSLY there are times you dont, but i dont think the idea was wrong in this scenario. tried a little too hard and maybe the wind or something assisted with an error in reading the trajectory for trying to make a catch also trying to get a head start on putting his foot on the gas

as long as he does not turn it into a habit obviously we can live with this one
Yes, the incompletion occurred in 2nd quarter [the box score incorrectly classifies it as a "short middle" incompletion (broken up by Bowens)]. Gronowski had dropped back to Jacks' own 38, and Jadon initially gets it at about the Redbird 12 before juggling it and allowing Bowens to make PBU. If you start replay at about 49:48, you'll notice Janke had to navigate three Redbird defenders, and the dang back judge. However, it was definitely catchable (and thrown perfectly by Gronowski); the pass was from north to south end.

The muffed punt occurred during 3rd quarter, with Redbirds punting it from south end to north, and it was a northwesterly wind

i see witness has elected to go full troll. His post in this thread is clearly intended to irritate for the sake of irritation alone. Trolling typically ends with a suspension around here. Think you can figure that out, witness? (No response requested.)

            Another good summary, WestSide!
The game proves once again the late-season cold-weather games are a lot of fun. The crowd in my area was animated and loud. ILLINOIS*State came ready to play and punched the Jacks in the face a few times. The Jacks had their share of missteps but throughout the game, I thought the team played with confidence and shrugged off the errors. That’s what champs do.

            *corrected from Indiana....oops

Post-game replay viewing reaction -- David Brown did an excellent job, and it was apparent, he'd researched Jacks. For instance, he called the direct snap to Kraft before Jacks even shifted backfield.

Watch out -- while Spack played and coached at Purdue & coached at Wabash, he'd probably object to being labeled a tree.

                From JackJD: Good catch,,,correction made.

is Stalbird underrated by jacks fans?? the football watching crowd in general??

i really dont know what the general thought is but he feels a bit underrated to me. for one i give him credit for being on the field as much as he has, when we really really needed LBs and DBs and he was banged up but played through it

i would argue he could be our 3rd best and 3rd most valuable defender after Bock and Sanders. i think good debate for him or Winkleman for 3rd. as a whole the defensive backfield has been very good considering it is basically a different composition every week because of injuries or suspension or someone having to move into a LB spot, but i give Stalbird the nod as the standout of that group even though i think lofton and gales and beanum have been excellent and others have been good

did someone catch the conversation late in the broadcast about the jacks being on pace, or would it be done now that the regular season is over?, to break the conference record for rushing yards allowed per game? i need to go back and rewatch as i was a little distracted at that point, but i think they said the previous record was about 85 yards a game and the jacks are giving up 74 yards per game. that is an impressive number regardless but breaking the previous record by about 10 yards per game seems VERY impressive

one would think this defense is going to dominate the all conference squad the only possible reason they do not is that so many players have played ONLY PART of a season and it has just been an incredible group effort without a bunch of individuals putting up great numbers

i will not try to guess our full list but i think Sanders and Winkleman are given. i think Bock should be included but there are too many other deserving LB in the conference for him to make it while missing half the season. Stalbird should but i am not sure if he has the raw stats. who else do you think??

Not sure about fans in general, but I haven't seen the play being mentioned much.

Can't argue with your rationale regarding player rankings, but I think a strength of this defense is that a case could be made for a handful of players being "tied for second or third"

Does anyone have a list of the 12 players who participated in Senior Day introductions? About a half-dozen seniors didn't participate and apparently will be using their extra year of eligibility. It looks like graduation will hit the Jacks' offense harder than the defense this year. Overall, what a super talented class of seniors the Jacks have this season.

And we barely had a lead at halftime. I might be mistaken but i thought we had the ball on the 5 yard line but had to kick a 45 yard field goal to salvage points. The 2nd half we looked much better. But i think the first half would be fair to say we struggled.

Gales and Reeder could potentially make it. I think Freeman should get at least 2nd team honors.

Regarding the conference rushing defense record, it's 80.5 (in 10 games) by the '86 Redbirds (pg. 14). You'll notice the ypg section of the media guide notes the '86 Redbirds played 11 games, but they only count 10 in the total, given that one game (pg. 14) was DII NW Missouri State.

You'll also notice they include playoffs. The Jacks have currently allowed 785 yards rushing, so there's a minimal chance they could also capture the fewest total yards allowed (if they only give up 19 yards in playoffs), but I'd say they're definitely likely to finish in top 10 in that category, even with playoffs included.

sometimes the answers are pretty obvious, but often times there is a LOT of room for discussion or debate or personal opinion or preference or whatever you want to call it. this is a part of sports i enjoy very much, the debates about who is better than who / ranking / etc....

in my perspective Bock is the clear number one and Sanders is the clear number two. i already listed who i would put in the argument for #3 but to the spirit of your comment, i agree with you!! it is a defensive unit DEEP DEEP DEEP with quality football players. the quality goes far beyond the starting eleven. so i absolutely can understand if you or someone felt there was a good case that it is Bock and a bunch of other very good players

Jacks FB posted this, which echoes Zim's tweet. Drotzmann is the 12th player pictured, who's not included in Zim's list, likely due to status as junior
