I second that!!! That article should be retained as part of the real story of the Dakota Marker.

          I agree.

I wonder if the choice was between Rogers and Entz when Entz reportedly "almost went to work for Stig at SDSU"

i have NO FACTS here. i KNOW NOTHING
so everything i am going to say is speculation

but that does not sound that would be the case

i believe Entz is at least a little older than Rogers
and obvioiusly he has been a bit ahead of Rogers on the path to HC

that said, my guess is that he has always been ahead on that path, and therefore it seems unlikely that the two of them would have been considered for the same position

ALSO, i would be INCREDIBLY surprised if that happened after he joined the ndsu staff, so that leads me to believe it was before he went to ndsu. who knows his career history? i do not. where did he come from

YES some of this i could definitely look up!! obviously reading his bio would tell how long he has been at ndsu and what stops he has made in his coaching path. sorry did not do that. saw jakes remark and am responding off the cuff

but my guess is he was somewhere before ndsu and his thought about coming to sdsu happened before he became a coach for the bison and it just seems pretty unlikely to me that him and Rogers would have been in competition for the same position

but interesting to see him say that

            interesting thought from jake
we will see if anyone has answers and / or more info
i hate going on other schools websites but i will probably go check his bio now

Also, Entz position specialty is D Line and of course Rogers is LBs

Entz has been coaching since the late 90s pretty much always in this area so him and Stig would have had many chances to cross paths

Rogers started his coaching career in 2013 as LB coach. Entz was already DC at UNI at that time

it would be very interesting to know when the events he spoke about occurred but i very much doubt that he and JR have ever really been up for the same job.

TOTAL GUESS but i am going to guess that it happened at the very beginning of Stig HC days and the beginnings of Entz coaching career

Rogers is about 15yrs younger than Entz, so you're likely right, and if anything Entz may have considered the Jacks after Winona State once Clint Brown's tenure began (instead Entz opted for a couple years at UNI followed by WIU). It's ironic that both Brown and Entz coached at Wayne State.

Then again, there is an outside chance Entz may have considered the Jacks in 2013 prior to going to WIU, in which case there would by Rogers synchronicity.

Entz coached LBs at Wayne State, Winona, and NDSU.

2013 was around the time Entz was at WIU (and just a year after Nielson started there, but I digress), albeit only a year, so maybe he was considering a role with the Jacks after that ended.

Side note -- Clint Brown is now working as K State's Offensive Quality Control, so sometimes long-tenured coaches accept markedly different roles.

Congrats to the Jacks. We had the dome rockin' and made it as hard to play as we could and your team brought it...got stronger as the game went on. I was feeling cautiously optimistic when we were up 21-7, and felt we were going to deliver the knockout blow when it looked like we were going to score again. Sadly for us, that next score never happened. Very gritty win. Saw Thumper commented on Twitter that the dome should account for at least 7 points...and I have to agree. We had the dome as loud as any game in a long time.

Got to tailgate with Thumper & Slosho, which is always a good time. Met a buddy of theirs from their podcast as well. Good people...happy for them, even if I wish it were the other way around.

Congrats again...well earned victory with the better team winning...and I'm not saying better team that day...but the better team. SDSU is clearly the #1 team. I hope we can make improvements, but we have ways to go to match up with you guys. SDSU is in the driver's seat. Good place to be at this time of the season.

That was a weird game that unfolded completely the opposite of what everyone thought it would be.

What a second half! The defense showed up and completely snuffed out NDSU's offense and the offensive line took over. A special shoutout to Hunter Dustman who made all of his FG/PAT's and was solid in punting. We don't win the game without him hitting the kicks. Has to be a huge confidence boost for him!

The result was one of the more satisfying outcomes I can remember. HORNS DOWN!

One more big check on the bucket list becoming number one this week. And we appear to be getting healthier for the stretch run!

                        One game at a time!

Hahaha...Thumper & Slosho seem to tolerate me enough...but they have low standards.

SDSU- 72 plays run, 438 yards, 20 points, 36:01 top
Opponents combined- 18 plays run, 39 yards, 0 points, 9:59 top

They're actually not that rare. The ones you don't find tolerable are the ones that stick out most. Well, except for TAB, if I remember the Big Bird coat properly.
