Not that it matters, but i am a bit surprised that seems early odds are favoring S Houston. in theory they had a tougher playoff road, but you could say the first step on our playoff road was NDSU, in any case we both played them and i think we clearly had the more dominant performance.
outside the bison, both teams played a CAA co champ, ours the automatic qualifier, to make it to frisco. against UD who was supposed to be one of the very best defense in the country, the jacks basically did anything and everything they wanted to do and had they been pressed at all i believe they VERY easily would have piled up significantly more yards and more points
i am not sure how much difference it makes if UD QB does not go out a couple series, but i will concede the offense would have been more effective with henderson full strength full game. that does not, however, do anything to help the defense, except keeping them off the field a bit more. but the hens already ran more plays and had more time. they simply could NOT stop the jacks and i think the jacks absolutely would have done more if needed
S houston on the other hand really only had a couple drives against JMU. they benefitted greatly from BIG plays on special teams and turnovers. i do not think they can guarantee that recipe gets it done for them against the jacks. beyond that it was special teams that very nearly lost the game for them the week before. it seems to me their special teams play is a wild card at best, but definitely not a given difference maker in a good way for them
that said, i am NOT trying to disrespect SHSU in any way!! i am simply saying i would be a bit confused by any declaration of them as ANY type of favorite. i think they are an excellent all around football team and i definitely think they are capable of winning this game. if you go back to any of my posts before the UD game i think you see that i was coming as close to guaranteeing a win as my superstition would let me go. i absolutely believed that they jacks would walk on UD and they did. i think the jacks would usually beat UD 7.5- 8.5 out of 10
my gut feeling is that we would consistently beat S Houston 6 - 6.5 out of 10. definitely enough to make me believe the jacks are the better team, but definitely not enough to make me feel comfortable about a one game for all the marbles scenario!!! if this worked like sports with 7 game series, i think the jacks are CLEAR favorites, but in one game, i think just about anything is possible

I heard on the JRI podcast today that only one true freshman QB led a team to an FCS title. Gronowski is close to some rare air.
It's pretty amusing to think that he used what is essentially a redshirt season to throw for 1500+ yards, rush for 500 more, throw 15 TD (compared to only 3 INT), and got to Frisco. That's a decent start!

Shsu had to come back to winnits last 2 games and im pretty sure they think they had the 2 hardest games already and have it locked up. I have the feeling they are going to overlook sdsu. Which inhope they do."The most rewarding things you do in life, are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.” Arnold Palmer

SHSU is a hard team to figure out. They are clearly very good. They’re playoff games have been really interesting though. Last minute stand against Monmouth, have NDSU on the ropes before a special teams collapse, on verge of getting blown out by JMU before a combo of special teams and fast strike offense puts them in front. Just hard to garner much from them, outside of the fact they are obviously talented, are playing pretty good D, and have some good response to adversity.
It wouldn’t shock me if the Jacks win by two scores, but I think it will be closer. And I could easily see SHSU winning. I feel like the chances of them beating us by two scores or more is low, but who knows. Really interesting matchup, and I think the team that can establish a ground game will win.
