I think the offense could have a lot of opportunities in the 3 TE SET with run fake, quick hit to any of the TEs running quick routes.

also chances early with the home run deep post to a Janke if they are 8/9 within 7 yards of the LOS.

I think we win comfortably. I respect our opponent, they are undefeated. But they had to hang on against JSU who was down to their 3 string QB. We had to comeback to beat a very good SIU team the second time we played them. SIU would win almost every other conference in the country. They are good team, well coached, with a good pedigree. But we should physically maul their team on the line. They will roll their guys out and get in space, just like everyone else has. This isn't new. I am going to hold confidence that we win by 10-17. We control the line of scrimmage and rush for 200+ and mostly stop their offense.

They are good, we are better.

hey 64, i think i have mentioned a few times about having some trouble with superstitions. for that reason i have difficulty saying too much out loud about this, but i think there is an excellent chance you are correct.

of course there are always elements beyond our control that can make a difference. injuries being one. gibbs going down against ndsu is huge example of health turning a game. weather is another. hopefully the weather will not make us too obviously one dimensional. i could definitely list more but those are two big ones

that said if the weather does not allow them to focus HEAVILY on stopping the run. i think they will be very confident in stopping our run game without having to gamble much or get too exotic. i do not believe that deleware defense is better than ndsu. ndsu tried to play us straight up and they got pummeled on the ground. i actually think there is an excellent chance that we run for over 300 on saturday.

i fully recognize that we still do not have lots of evidence for comparing one conference to another, that leaves plenty of room for error, but my gut feeling is we will be able to move the ball very well. my question is more about their offense. if they can execute the short and intermediate passing game consistently for 4 quarters then we are probably in for a 4 quarter battle and it will come down to turnovers or simply who has the ball last

I agree but you would expect nothing less than that in the semis.

You have to love the position our team is in. We came out last week and scored right away. Then we took some serious punches from SIU and got down at the half. The part that made me feel confident heading into the semis was the way the team responded. That was very impressive and the type of thing that teams that win titles make it through. We also benefitted from a couple turnovers.

SIU did a great job in the intermediate passing game and moved the ball very well on us. The coaches will make adjustments and have us prepared this week. The key to the game will be winning the battle at line on both sides along with winning the turnover margin. I know, pretty cliched stuff right there.

Pretty exciting stuff. You'd have to say the biggest game in program history this Saturday. 11:00 kickoff on a Saturday. Will we get to 10,000 this week? It would be a real disappointment if we didn't! The crowd made a difference last week. A crowd almost 3 times that size would have an impact on this game as well!

Pretty sure 10,000 is impossible considering the 50% rule.

Whether 3,600 or 9,600; hopefully we're as loud as 20k when Jacks are on defense

Matt and crew have had some great content and fantastic upcoming content on the Jackrabbit Illustrated podcasts. Thanks Westside and crew for all of that.

I think the game will be close until the second quarter...then we turn it on...they mount a late surge making it seem closer than it really is. Thinking 34-24.

The episode with Zim was awesome, although I agree that the podcasts are always great to listen to.

I'm a fan of both your prediction and how you see the game progressing, but I'd like Hens failing to make a surge even more.

I can't help but think the combination of Jacks' QB pressure and DBs redeeming themselves will serve to render this game's outcome never in doubt

Hope Jacks fans pack their rain gear and pack the Dana...hourly forecast says 50-70% chance of rain, 48-51 degrees and easterly winds of 12-18mph during the game. Am I wrong in thinking that winds out of the east are the least troublesome wind direction at DJD?

Howdy once again Jacks. (it's been 11 years since my last post here!)

I think rain favors SDSU. You will be able to run on us better than we will be able to run on you. We have had 3 starting OL out for several games now and it has made a difference in our ability to run the ball. Replacements are young and they do a good job of pass blocking, but not so much for the run. I think we will be better than you through the air. That's why I say foul weather will favor the Jacks.
No one gets to the final 4 by luck - these are all GOOD teams. Whoever wins this one will have earned it!

                            Welcome back!

I just checked the Brookings weather forecast and it seems to be going in the wrong direction. The chance of rain is now 60% (several days ago the percentage was lower) . The good news is the forecast is for occasional showers so it may not be continuous rain! The high temp will be only 48. Wind will be out of the east at 10-20 mph (as someone else noted, a east wind isn't too bad in the DJD Stadium.) I'll be in the stadium wearing raingear suitable for duck hunting.

I think the game has a lot of potential to be a very close, exciting contest. Football fans watching on ESPN and not having a favorite team, will see pretty evenly matched teams and entertaining football. I'm grateful we're not playing on the old stadium's grass -- these two teams would turn that into mud by the third quarter.

Being the homer that I am, I'm calling it Jackrabbits 21, Blue Hens 17.

If you're on the fence about attending--quit thinking about it and go to Brookings for the game.

But is it suitable for Blue Hen hunting?

The probability of rain is decreasing (at least on weather.com), as it was 60 percent there too as recently as last night

I'll say 28-14 Jacks with one of the scores by defense

I thought the same regarding the rain.

Curious about what factor(s) lead you to believe Hens will be more effective passing. Is it primarily QB?

If so, I'd caution against dismissing Gronowski. Plus, the Jacks have twin WRs, underrated (and quite frankly underutilized) TEs, and a trio of RBs who are effective receivers too
