As long as we're issuing mea culpas, I'm in line, too. But I plead ignorance. I hadn't seen Andy play at all until this year. And obviously due to his injury, he just wasn't performing well until the SUU game. He was terrific in that game and I'm just hoping we can keep him healthy because his ability to make plays can win us a lot of games. That said, Berry will get his chances before he's done.

Just remember, it was Southern Utah, I'll be more convinced with a repeat performance against a good defense in NDSU. Nevertheless, I did like what I saw last Saturday.

        Re: Kardoes/Berry

Kardoes seems to have a great deal of talent, particularily when healthy as he did show us all on Saturday. I recall a couple years back, that another QB Adrian Headen came about the same time as Kardoes to campus. I was really disappointed that Headen followed his QB coach Eric Eidness to Southwest State.
SWMSU no longer has Headen on his roster and I asked over on D2football.com what happened and was told Headen left school.

I can only speculate the reasons for Headen leaving SDSU, but I think in spring ball, Headen might have found himself behind Kardoes in the depth chart and it would have been a uphill climb to displace Kardoes. Add to that the opportunity to play immediately at SWMSU and Headen is following his coach.

I think our coaches seem to know talent when they see it and pay attention to maturity in attitudes. That is what seems to have happen in terms of Kardoes. I do like and respect Ryan Berry and his time will come.

I dont know what all was going on in Headen's life and maybe its no longer important.

A little intrasquad competition is good. I am sure Kardoes is looking over his shoulder at Berry. Depth at a position makes your starter stronger.
