    Re: Spring Ball

The D-line will be very depleted for the Spring Game. Marcus Suhn, Willie Jones and Jason Nobiling are all recovering from off season surgury and will not play. Hank Goff and Paul Fisher are no longer on the team. Mitch Pontrelli and Eric Schroeder will be the only ones with game experience. Ruey Dei has just moved to DE, RSFR Steve Bazata and Jacob Pfeffier will play, also RSFR Brad Herman who is a LB will take snaps as a DE.

Hopefully after fall camp they will all be healthy and maybe one of the true freshman will be able to step up and play. Maybe they are looking for some transfer help also. D-Line coach Sarvis is an excellent coach and will get these guys playing great.

        Re: Spring Ball

Just was looking at the practice schedule on coachstig.com and see there is a scrimmage scheduled for this Saturday from 10-12. Might be a good chance for those of us that are here in Brookville to peek in and give an update of what is happening.

I know this much, Kardoes hasn't been going that much this spring because of his back and I heard that Reed Burckhardt has an injured shoulder and hasn't been practicing. Saturday will be a good chance to see Berry and Crawford considering they are the only two healthy QB's.

I'm interested to see how good Crawford is. He was rated pretty highly coming out of high school. I would like to see how good he could become when he's a senior if he starts this year. We haven't heard much about him since the other 3 are pretty dang good themselves.

It's a nice position to be in, that's for sure. I just hope one of them takes the reigns and leads this team. Every good football team has a QB that can do that.

              Re: Spring Ball

You guys need to raise hell with your local newspaper about spring ball coverage. SDSU is a Division I program. I have been disappointed with the coverage in Fargo for NDSU, but I can see that you have the same situation or worse. My family and one of the Jacks players families are good friends from the same area in Minnesota so it's fun to keep up on both programs. Frustrating for those of us too far away to get news coverage on TV. Thanks for letting me vent!!!

I think Chris and the Argus have done a decent job lately. Hopefully the will have a primer article before the spring game and a summary after. I'd expect the Brookings Register to do the same.

                  Re: Spring Ball

I watched part of the practice saturday. It looked like the offense was really taking it to the defense. I saw only one QB taking snaps, don't know who it was though he was wearing a plain yellow jersey. Looks like quarterbacks get babied in college as well as the pros. ;D

                    Re: Spring Ball

There are only two quarterbacks healthy enough to practice, so I'm guessing they're being extra careful. The QB taking the snaps at the end of practice was Ryan Crawford.

                      Re: Spring Ball

never a good thing when your qb's are depleted by injuries and stuff. lets hope the summer creates some bulked up athletes for fall camp and the season. about 4 or so months til the season starts huh? a 12th game would be nice.

I am trying to work out a plan to be there. 20% chance right now. Could increase considerably today. If I am anywhere near Brookings on Saturday, I will be at CAS.
