Jacks To Play Iowa State in 2008

BROOKINGS, SD - South Dakota State University will play Iowa State in football in the 2008 season.

SDSU and Iowa State have agreed to a contract for a season-opening game on August 30 at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.

“First, we’re excited to get another IA team on our schedule,” SDSU associate athletic director Rob Peterson said. “It’s an easy trip so our fans should be able to follow us on the road. Plus there are a large number of SDSU alumni in Iowa so we can expect to have strong support at the game.”

Idaho St. gets bumped in favor of a 1A game...Sweet Justice... !!! The Bengals did that to us for this coming season. Thats why we had to scramble and put Wm. Penn is on the schedule. The SDSU/ISU game will be a great event!!

I think that William Penn had been scheduled long before Idaho St. backed out of its end of the deal. I believe that we ended up losing a home game this year and are traveling to La. to face Nicholls State on Sept. 23 as a result of Idaho State's maneuvering.......

Your right, It was McNeese St. that had to be added at the last moment because of Idaho St backing out.

Oops! I got my Louisiana I-AA schools mixed up! We just need to schedule Grambling at least once and get some of them to come up to Brookings.

Coach Stig was on the Craig and Mike show today and once the interview was over Craig said that after the '09 game with Minnesota the Jacks would be playing schools from the Big 10 in '10 and '11 but he would wait and let SDSU make the announcement. 8-)

I'm guessing Iowa and Wisconsin, but I wouldn't be surprised if Illinois or Northwestern landed on our schedule. Way to go, Jacks!

A trip to Madison to play the Badgers would be great. Truthfully they have one of the best student sections for a college football game.

South Dakota State's football team will play Iowa State in 2008.

The Jackrabbits and Cyclones will play a season-opening game on Aug. 30 that year at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa.

The Cyclones are a Division I-A team, college football's highest level. The Jackrabbits play in Division I-AA.

"I'm excited - I-A games are part of our makeup," Jacks coach John Stiegelmeier said Wednesday. "If you go back two or three years ago, we didn't think we'd be eligible to play these games until 2011."

The Iowa State game is the Jackrabbits' second contract to play a I-A team. In April, SDSU announced it will play at Minnesota in 2009. . . . (read more)

F the huskers bring on Oklahoma. no need to go to nebraska sides their football program IMO sucks Iowa State and the rest of the big 12 has caught up and passed the huskers in terms of success lately. sure the huskers may be close but thatd open up a barrell of monkey fleas known as the mav twins to post more on here.

Hey everybody! Man I cant believe i didnt hear about this until last night-I was listening to WNAX off and on in the morning-yes it does come in pretty good even in North central MN-but i guess i didnt catch anything. This is gonna be great! I taped the Iowa-Iowa State game from last year, it was 90 degrees, windy, and Jack Trice was sold out with thousands of fans left outside the stadium. What a great atmosphere! I hope its like that when we play them! 8-)
