Also, I think coaches that are great role models and make academics a priority are very good for the program.  Eventually you want a championship program, but I don't want to sacrifice the true goal of the University.
I don't have time to break down our record just against DI teams but I'm pretty sure its below .500.  That said, I am not disappointed in the FB program during our transition.  However, it is my opinion as an alumni, booster and fan that a change needs to be considered.  I don't think I have seen anyone call for Stig's release (at least not on this board, elsewhere yes).

To suggest that anyone has given up their support by providing criticism in the face of an embarassing loss is childish an immature.  College FB is real life and in life screw-ups get called out.  Last week was a big time screw-up and if someone has a problem calling it what it is, thats their problem.

We had better see improvements this week or everyone better be prepared for more critics.  Thats real life.[/quote]

Guess it depends on your definition of support, just seems no one is looking ahead to next week at all. For the record, I absolutely think a large part of the blame falls on the coaches. I also don't have a problem with criticism, but I do have a problem with judging a career on one game.

Given the records in DII and the lower scholarships, transition etc., I don't think the last two seasons were that bad. Everyone seems to assume we are 0-5 already. It just seems "SDSU" has accepted mediocre football in a great DII conference. Don't forget they've only made the playoffs once in their whole history.

I think SDSU Nation will want more sucess than before in the future, and it's to be determined if the current staff can get there.

On another note, I did have a dream, or I should say a nightmare. I dreamt that the Jacks lost to LaCrosse..... Now if I could just have a dream of them beating the Griz :

I'm sure that I'm one of the people this comment is directed at. Keep in mind I'm not judging Stig's career on this last game vs. LaCrosse, but 10 years worth of so-so seasons. I doubt anyone is judging Stig soley based on one game.

I'm in this camp. Not judging one bad loss. Judging past performance, future expectations, etc.

Re: If someone new, then who?

I just have to speak up. I have been reading this stuff since I listened to game Saturday night and trying to catch up on back reading.

First of all, I put this loss on the players and not the coaches. We should have been able to come out and ran a goal line offense all night long up and down the field on UW-L. No game plan should have been needed. We should have been able to play sandlot ball and beat these guys.

I don't know how many of you speaking up so loudly have played, but if you have you know you shouldn't need to be motivated by coaches to go out on that wonderful field in front of those wonderful fans and play football. Every game I go to I still get goosebumps when OUR JACKRABBITTS run onto OUR field thinking back to the days when I was waddling onto the field. If it was a matter of being overmatched athletically then it would have been the coaches fault for not recruiting up to OUR new standards. >

I didn't think anyone was truly basing the critism on one game and wasn't tyring to single anyone out. Just thought it wasn't the right time to question the mediocre seasons after it just started. Maybe I missed some offseason topics.

I've known you for quite a few years RLV, but that is by far the dumbest statement you've ever made. If you said that to my face I'd kick you in the jimmy. Stig could dominate the GPAC, oops I mean NCC, in it's present state.

OK, that was a little harsh. I'll tone it down by saying, "I respectfully disagree". You're my boy RLV!

If you had a Jimmy, I'd kick you there right back. We all know you lost that and your two little berries a looooong time ago ;D. Will you be able to come out and play for the Beef Bowl? I'll buy you a Prairie Fire.

It is my opinion that we went wrong 10 years ago went stig was hired.  I thought the two other candidates (Baulkey and Breske) were "football guys".  I like Stig as a person, but it is time to get serious about our football program.  Keuter is a great motivater and highschool coach, but this isn't highschool and i don't want to see the rabbits running the wing T.  The clown from west central, lets face it, Keuter is running that program too.  He has been for years.  I would like to see Fred look at a guy like Gadowski.  Players like to play for him, he was a big time player at a big time program.   I think that could make a difference in recruiting.  SDSU is the elite program in this area, time to start acting like it!

Re: If someone new, then who?

hum now bits is right about the high school option. Simply put, a high school coach would be akin to hiring a junior high math student to teach complex algebra. There is more strategy in the spring ball game than in any local high school season. That's not arrogance, just the truth. More players have trouble with the increased mental aspect of the game than anything else. For coaches that would be ten-fold.

Know this when making criticisms about Coach Stig, he knows the X&O's of football. He's often not as aggressive on defense as I would have preferred when playing (I think we had a tendency to ignore the blitz and sit back in a relative base package too often), but he knows what he's talking about. He can pick apart an offensive play after seeing it one time. Admittedly, that's just one part of being a successful coach, but most high school coaches would fall woefully short in that regard which was my point.
