Congradulations on your win over Poly. You guys have shown tremendous guts not only coming from behind to win games but also digging out of a tough 0-3 hole. No doubt a top 25 ranking is well deserved.

I'm not trying to stir the pot, I just want to know what you guys think of Coach Stig. I'm sorry if me asking that question stirs any kind of trouble, thats my intention. My State friends have been hard on him and I don't think this win will change their mind. I think he has done a pretty good job and today he led them to an amazing win. Going for two was a flat out ballsy call and a great call. He really opened himself up to second guessing if they didn't get it, but he showed that he didn't care about that. A lot of coaches would have kicked the extra point and went to OT knowing that they had all the momentum, having scored 21 straight points. I say if you have 2.5 yards to beat a top 5 team you have to take that chance.

Thanks, Coyote Fan.  Nice win over Augie--Flyger has proved he's a formidable competitor.

Now, Juice, you are trying to stir the pot so I hope everyone ignores your inquiries.

I didn't realize this was such a sensitive topic, but you are the second person to tell me this so I guess it is. I thought I could just have a rational football conversation without the smack talk.

Apparently there are those who feel we cannot have a rationale conversation with a USD fan who is trying to stir the pot about Coach Stig after a fabulous win over what had been the #1 ranked pass defense in D1-AA football.  Other than that, we're having lots of rationale conversations about football on this message board.  And, we're all very excited about the Jacks right now. Surely, you understand that, don't you?

Fourth-quarter blitz stuns No. 4 Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Andy Kardoes and JaRon Harris hooked up for three touchdown passes in the final eight minutes as South Dakota State outscored fourth-ranked Cal Poly 23-0 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 29-28 upset victory Saturday night.

The Jackrabbits, playing their Great West Football Conference opener, won their fourth game in a row to improve to 4-3 overall. Cal Poly dropped to 5-2 overall, 2-1 in conference play.

SDSU returns to action Oct. 28, hosting 18th-ranked UC Davis in the 93rd Hobo Day game. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium.

Trailing 28-6 entering the fourth quarter, the Jackrabbits got the passing game going. Kardoes pulled the Jacks to with 28-14 as he found Harris from 14 yards out for a score and later connected with tight end Chris Wagner on a two-point conversion.

The Jackrabbits got the ball back with 5:41 remaining and procedded to mark 59 yards on five plays to close the gap to one touchdown. Kardoes found Harris for 45 yards on the first play of the drive, but the senior quarterback was shaken up after taking a late hit. With the drive in danger of stalling, Kardoes re-entered the game on fourth and goal from the Cal Poly 12 and threw a strike to Harris with 3:45 remaining.

The Jackrabbit defense again held firm, giving up one first down before forcing the Mustangs to punt. SDSU pressured the kick, forcing just a 17-yard punt that put the ball back in SDSU's possession at the Cal Poly 45 with 2:16 remaining.

Kardoes started the drive by finding Micah Johnson for an 11-yard gain, and the Jacks picked up 15 more yards on a pass interference penalty. Two plays later, Kardoes and Harris hooked up for the third and final time, this time from 19 yards out with 1:05 remaining.

Still trailing by one, SDSU made the decision to not play for overtime and go for the two-point conversion. Kardoes took the snap from center and scored on a quarterback draw to give the Jackrabbits their first -- and only -- lead of the game.

Cal Poly moved into SDSU territory in the closing seconds as Matt Brennan hooked up with Ramses Barden on a 45-yard pass play that put the ball at the Jackrabbit 37. However, Brennan's pass on the next play was picked off in the end zone by Tyler Koch to seal SDSU's first victory over a top-five Division I-AA team. . . . (read more)

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP)-- Senior quarterback Andy Kardoes passed for 250 yards and three fourth-quarter touchdowns as South Dakota State rallied from a 22-point deficit to beat Cal Poly 29-28 on Saturday.

Kardoes connected with sophomore wide receiver JaRon Harris on scoring passes of 14, 12 and 19 yards in the final period, then ran for the game-winning two-point conversion with 1:05 to play, giving the Jackrabbits (4-3, 1-0 Great West) their fourth consecutive victory after three losses.

Kardoes completed 14 of 27 passes and Harris finished with six catches for 133 yards. Micah Johnson also caught six passes for the Jackrabbits, covering 97 yards.

Cal Poly (5-2, 2-1 Great West) was led by sophomore running back James Noble who gained 168 yards on 26 carries, including a 74-yard scoring run in the third quarter. It was Noble's fifth 100-yard game this season and the 13th in 17 career contests.

Mustang sophomore quarterback Matt Brennan completed four of 13 passes for 84 yards.

Noble ran nine yards for a first-quarter touchdown and Ernie Cooper ran five yards for a second-period touchdown as the Mustangs led 14-3 at halftime.

Noble's 74-yard run and a one-yard dive by Fred Hives with 26 seconds left in the third quarter gave Cal Poly its 28-6 lead.

South Dakota State's only scoring to that point was a pair of field goals by Parker Douglass spanning 38 and 40 yards.

Woo hoo! A great, great comeback and a big win. We still need more consistancy -- especially on O -- but, wow, I was worried that we might not win four games all year. This team is sure hard to figure.

The Bison deserve a nod today, too. They easily outplayed Minnesota, but had one too many big mistakes to win. Too bad. I was cheering for them.
