Re: 2016 Recruiting List
This probably should go into the 2017 recruiting board but former basketball standout Jordan Dykstra's brother Zach was just picked as an all stater in IA as a junior. 6-5 285 lbs OL. Hopefully the coaches are on top of this. Don't need another NW IA guy going to USD.

Re: 2016 Recruiting List
From UWMandSDSU: "I think this is a new offer. JUCO DB Marrico Gafford from Iowa Western."
Updating the last bunch of potential recruits that everyone has been sending in. Thanks again for all the recruits you find! I also like to take some time to learn as much as I can on these young men. When I first started digging into Rico's videos, I thought he had potential to be a nice replacement for Butler/Forsythe. The more I watched and the more I dug, I really like how he plays.
First of all, he has speed! While I sometimes question the numbers posted on their Rivals or HUDL pages, he has a history dating back to high school. He has a 4.4 forty on his Rivals page. In high school at Dowling in Des Moines, he won both the 100/200 meter sprints in high school. He also ran a 10.62 second 100 meter dash to win the Drake Relays. So you can check off that he has legit speed.
When I looked at his HUDL videos from IWCC and high school, I first thought that he was somewhat lazy. At times he jogs while watching the play develop, but then he can use his speed to close and make the play. However, the more I watched it was fun to see how he would read the QB. He always had his receiver and the QB in his vision. Many times he also had presence to know where a secondary receiver was. In many cases at IWCC, he had very good coverage on his receiver, but made the play or pick on a secondary receiver. That is excellent vision and knowledge of the game. I will put down a disclaimer that this is from footage that he or his schools have provided. We don't see how much or if he was beat on a play when a QB looked him off and then beat him after he may have read the play wrong. Again, we have no evidence either way.
Finally, I'd love to have him be a 6'0" - 200 lb. corner, so that he could better handle the big receivers. But he is physical, fast and appears to have a bit of mean streak when he plays. The way he throws around some of those players is impressive.
There are many intangibles that you can't read with the limited amount of information that you can find on the web, but I really like his ability!
