Hopefully Nebraska doesn't offer him a scholarship. We have too good of a program and facilities to ignore for regional kids and college tuition is getting too expensive to turn down a scholarship for a high risk gamble on a obtaining playing time at the resident FBS school.

    * I'm aware that, now I have made this proclamation, Murphy's Law states that Elijah will end up accepting preferred walk-on status at Nebraska.
When you watch those videos, he definitely looks like a man among boys. At first glance, I thought that it was the lack of quality competition that helped make him look so much better. Those games were all against Omaha metro teams. While Burke and Omaha South are not noted for their football programs, they do produce some talent. While both teams are only 3-6, that is better than they usually do, so these are good teams. The other games were against Papillion-LaVista, Omaha North, and Creighton Prep. All three are having average seasons by their usual standards, but these are quality teams that produce D-1 talent every year.

He is explosive, uses leverage well, and is strong and quick enough to shed blockers. At 6'3" 245, you expect him to simply use strength and length to beat opponents. When he lines up, he is lower than virtually everybody on the both sides of the line. That is great technique and allows him to control his opposition. So when you look at him, he appears to be an outstanding commit for us and you can see why the Huskers are interested in him.

When you consider the commits that the Huskers have, you have to wonder if they really could offer him. I'd speculate that they don't have a scholly for him now, but a grey-shirt could be a possibility. They currently have two - 3* recruits on board.
Quayshon Alexander 6'3" 230 out of DePaul Catholic in NJ and Ben Stille, 6'5" 235 from Ashland-Greenwood HS in NE.

They also have a few offers still out to DEs who have not made a commitment yet. Most of these kids don't have Nebraska on their short list. One player who is - Hamilcar Rashed, a 6'4" 210 WDE out of Laveen, AZ. Rashed is scheduled to visit Lincoln on November 7th. If Arizona doesn't offer him, some experts project that he could commit to the Huskers who offered him in September. In addition, last Friday they made an offer to Jonathan Kongbo, a 6'6" 260 JUCO player from Arizona Western College. He appears to be a short term solution that really wouldn't be competing against Elijah for playing time in the next couple of years. Elijah would likely be a long term project like Jack Gangwish has turned out for the Huskers these last two years. Gangwish was a 6'2" 225 walk-on from Wood River high school in central Nebraska. Small town kid on a marginal high school team.

Speaking of Gangwish, he is the perfect example of why many Nebraskans continue to choose to walk-on for the Huskers instead of going elsewhere. Jared Blum is a great example of players that can get lost in the big time programs, but the Huskers continue to rely on walk-ons for filling even high profile positions. The luster may have come off of the program since the 90's, but Saturdays are still holidays in Nebraska for Husker fans. (I continue to watch the Jacks on my iPad and have the Husker games muted on TV in the background.)

I'm hoping that Elijah stays a Jackrabbit commit, because I think he has a bright future in blue. I'm sure Coach Jackson will keep him focused on that too!

@NateClouse 2016 Omaha (Neb.) Millard South TE Alex Cloyd just landed an offer from South Dakota State, his first DI offer. #NebraskaJACKS #nebpreps

The tweet from Nate Clouse isn't entirely true as Cloyd has already verballed to UND.

Thanks for keeping us up to date! UWMandSDSU has done a bang-up job keeping us posted on the latest recruiting news.

I've noted on page #1 that Cloyd is listed under our offers section, with a note that he has a soft verbal to UND. This has been confirmed with Tom Miller of the Grand Forks Herald. If you have the time, check out his web page. It has numerous links to various stories and updates from his social media accounts. It also has a running list on the side panel for UND's recruiting updates. I wish the Argus would consider doing something like this. However, I'm sure you'd have to be a paying customer to access it.

Jacob Browns stat line, kid has crazy stats. Multidimensional from receiving, possible jet sweeps, kickoff return and finally punt return(23+). It'll be nice to get him signed.

Career stats=Senior Year stats. Did he just play varsity his senior year, or did he play elsewhere?? The one-year stats are indeed crazy!

That is just sr year. He had 1163 rec yds on 54 rec, 19 tds his Jr. year. I don't think he had the return stats like his Sr year but that's 2 great seasons for college let alone HS. Not sure why MaxPreps has it that way.
