Zenner with 249 (I really want to round that to 250). One TD of more than 50 yards. All is good in Jackrabbit land tonight.

Was able to listen to most of the 2nd half, driving back from Albuquerque. NAU has a really good radio announcer, reminded me of Paul Allen of the Vikings without the complete homer comments PA comes with. Said things like Bauman would have broken 3-4 for touchdowns or much larger gains against Big Sky opponents (was really impressed with the D's speed). Really liked Zenner, especially his ability to get 2-3 yards on plays that most running backs would get none. Very knowlegable of SDSU players, mentioned that Tiefentaler's dad played on the SDSU team the other time the two teams played.

The D was swarming, outside of those two drives in the 2nd we owned the game. Douglas, Peugh and Co spent the entire second half in the backfield, seriously how awesome is it that Bouman had 116 yds at half but barely finished with a 100 for the game. The only really bad play by the D was when Jimmie looked like a chicken with is head cut off on their first deep pass. Butler was on lockdown duty again. Also, every time he catches a punt I feel like a big play is going to happen(that punt return where he jumped behind Schneider and basically said lead me was slick). Poe did not look like he wanted to go back in in the 4th after we knocked Cartwright out of the game, you could see fear in both the qb's eyes that 2nd half....they wanted nothing to do with passing. Oh yeah, Zenner and the moving company were pretty damn good to. Passing wise Sumner looked like a dear in the headlight, but once again like the last month, ran the ball very good. His underthrow to Wesley in the endzone was unacceptable, that should have been an easy TD.

Hopefully the guys can get their legs back under them quickly coming down from the elevation and prepare for their 3rd straight long flight. Seriously, nothing is more exciting than watching your d-line completely take over a game though. Also what an awesome game for all of our AZ boys, they all showed up and out today. Go Jacks!!!

After all the flack Trevor Wesley took during most of the season for dropping passes , you have to give him some credit for making big catches two games in a row. And he might have added a long TD last night if Sumner could have gotten the ball to him.

Thanks for sharing. I think TV mentioned that 1985 was one and only time we played NAU. Jeff Tiefentaler was on that team, and no doubt was an impact on receiving yards in order for this guy to remember. I suspect Jay Parker was on that team also. I have not even looked up the score, but I don't think the rodent Jacks came out the victors that day. We were D2 and only 36 scholies.

Good point. Wesley gets open. He could be a game-changer if he continues to catch the ball like he has been lately.

I only watched late in 2nd half on espn3 and what I noticed was how we totally were more physical. Just man handled them. Reminded me of the entire eiu play off game last year. That was total domination. This year it was only the 2nd half but w still were much better. When your qb goes 4-15 and 1 int in a road playoff game you think that team is going to lose. Yet we were better in every other phase of the game. That was impressive.

The "D" will need to be ready next Saturday as Eastern Washington averages 40 points a game!

No doubt a keen observation, but maybe it will be like NAU, maybe we will be like Big Goosie said, "you could see the fear in their eyes" and none of the EWU qb will be wanting to throw a pass. Personally, the Big Sky offense is not all that is cracked up to be. I hope our D will be ready.

Great game by the Jackrabbits. I especially liked the way the D stepped up in the second half and completely shut down NAU's stud running back. Meanwhile, Zenner and Gandy stepped it up. We all know Sumner can play better, especially in passing situations. SDSU didn't have to pass much to beat NAU. Why put the ball up in the air if you don't have to? This is a very good, well-rounded team that's getting better nearly every week.

You'd be right. Have to be sharper earlier and Sumner has to be way better to win at EWU. Dominant 2nd half against a clearly overmatched opponent. EWUs been there before, they will be expecting to win and will bury the Jacks if SDSU comes out flat or sloppy.

Well NAU has a decent defense but they looked under sized to me. I think the game plan was to just keep pounding the ball and eventually size will win out. It did. If we played NAU 10 times we would win 10 times because we were just bigger and as the game progresses, we will eventually wear them out.

I will say I am happy about my decision to forgo the MBB games at UC-Santa Barbara and Stanford and drive 800 miles to Flagstaff. Still trying to convince myself to fly to EWU for the next game. I am tired after driving all day, so maybe tomorrow I will be more motivated to book more travel for this weekend.

The crowd was good for the Jacks at the game for only 300 people. That was one of the better experiences I have had a football game in a while.

                                Go Jacks!!
