One of those examples where Sumner doesn't dump the ball...sack for a loss. Our sack number is unnecessarily high not due to lack of protection from the O-line but due to Sumner's occasional optimism. Overall, not a problem in this game but just took us back from good to risky field goal range.

There it was. SDSU trips over their own feet and instead of sealing a win early now have to battle it out. That's scary when you think about our vulnerability to long pass play.

Optimism doesn't need to equal boneheaded play. If he had tried stringing that out on any other down than 3rd it wouldn't have been a problem. But on 3rd and long, close field goal range, you escape the pocket and take a sack? Not smart at all.
