Will the track in the new facility be permanent, or can it be easily removed? Does it have a high enough ceiling for kicking practice? What's the inside consist of?
Your question made this old Jackrabbit runner chuckle. The track will be permanent, i.e. not subject to being moved. Some tracks can be moved but I'm not aware of any movable tracks exceeding 200m -- many movable tracks are less than 200m (like 11-laps to the mile, steeply banked turns). Movable tracks are usually made of wood with some form of rubberized running surface.
Yes, the practice facility will have a high ceiling and the inside will consist of air surrounded by a floor, four walls and a ceiling.
TV's article in the Argus on developing defensive tackles has me perplexed. The story highlights the importance of developing enough depth at that position not only because of how it is key to how the defense performs overall, but due the fact that we only had significant playing time out of 4 DT's last year. Yet our roster has 17 linemen on it.
Andy Mink is gone after four stellar years while often being undersized for this position. Chase Douglas will be counted on to anchor the position and if Hettiger receives his extra year of eligibility, we will have a solid foundation to start with. Terry reported on four other linemen that are expected to contribute. Those mentioned were - Sr. Bryan Burke, Jr. Auston LaBlance, So. Tory Dibb, and Fr. Jordan Brichacek. Looking at the roster, we have 17 DL's on it and we would likely expect half to be DE's. Last year's recruiting class was thin on numbers, but could be great athletes at the DE position in the future.
The vast majority of our linemen appear to be built for speed not for the rigors inside. Are there any dark horses that we don't know about yet? According to the article, Stig is high on Brichacek and even considered pulling his red shirt last year.
Will not the new indoor facility have this? AD Sell seemed very committed to grass last fall at one of the meetings about the facility. He felt this gave SDSU a big advantage over the rest of MVFC. Whether he has since changed his mind, I do not know, but not likely. With all the spring snow, would it not be a chore to clear the field turf? Just throwing it out here. One way or another what ever the HPER staff chooses will probably be in our best interests.

I think 5-10 years field turf has to seriously be considered, but at the same time a practice facility and new stadium are priority #1 and #2
If you have the proposed practice facility you could play the spring game in there if you had to, have the spring practices in there, etc.
The indoor practice facility will absolutely have artificial turf, of some sort. I have also seen statements to the effect that the stadium renovation/rebuild will include an artificial turf (probably field turf or something like it). It would make some sense to have the same turf in both the stadium and the practice facility.
